I am totally thrilled with the output of the XP-850. Crisp production of both photos and graphics on presentation paper as well. Would recommend this product. The only inconvenience is area stores do not carry ink for this printer, so have to order online. Which is not bad, but you really have to plan ahead in cases of large jobs.

Have been using if for over 2 months and it is a perfect work horse. Mostly used to print pictures, I have been sending pictures on oversea travels directly from my phone or laptop to the printer for the family to enjoy without any problems. At home is has been a workhorse with no problems what so ever. Buy the high capacity ink and you will not have any ink problems for a while. Highly recommended.

Great Little Printer!

I bought the XP-850 on the advice of the retailer. So far, I am well pleased. The photo quality on 4 x 6 is very nice; haven't printed anything larger yet, but I feel confident that it will do just fine.
Using it as a regular, black and white printer works OK, although not as fast as my HO Officejet.
The major plus for my own personal situation is the scanning. This will scan a stack of documents, auto-feeding them through without me doing it one by one, and does a fine job needing little if any photoshop work. The only small complaint in this area is that the scanned documents often go through at a slight angle, despite my best efforts; I can correct this in photoshop, a small annoyance for the overall convenience.
I haven't yet got any figures on printing costs but am cautiously optimistic about that, too.
This is quite a machine, especially for the money!

I really like this printer it is my 5th Epson Photo printer. It does a very nice job printing CD/DVD disks and photographs. The only thing I am disappointed by is the simple fact the neither the drawer or panel drop/retract on their own I have to manually push the drawer back in. If a motor pushes it out, then why can't the motor pull it back. It seems to be unhappy with the almost forced push back in. Other than this I Love it and have recommended it several times already.

I ordered this printer because my old printer wouldn't work with windows 8.1. What I got was a pleasent suprise. This printer was easy to set up and program. It prints great and I did 4x6 and 8x10 photos and I got great compliments on the quality of my photos and finishing. I would recomend this printer to everyone.

Nice All-In-One

My old Epson Stylus Photo 960 was about 10 years old and finally failed. I've always liked Epson printers and wanted an all-in-one to replace my 960 and my Epson Perfection 2400 Photo scanner which was also 10 years old and still working fine. After some research I chose the Epson Expression Photo XP-850. I like the separate ink cartridges, like my old 960 had, although they are expensive to replace. I now have more desktop since I gained the space my old scanner took. My wife can also use the XP-850 from her MacBook Pro via Wi-Fi - a really nice feature! I really like having two paper drawers. I have copy paper in one drawer and 4 x 6 photo paper in the other. This makes photo printing so much easier - you don't have to remove 8 1/2 x 11 paper and load photo paper every time you want to print a photo. You can use the scanner like a copier - even my wife can and she even scanned something from the printer control panel directly to her Pictures folder. Photos are excellent quality. I've used the printer over a month and am very satisfied with it.

Getting started

RE: XP-850 printer I have had problems with understanding some online (Guide) photo instructions. I have a Mac and my internet, wireless set up was confirmed as successful. Unfortunately, I can not get the printer to recognize the computer commands? I still do not know how to get the upper paper tray, #1, to be utilized upon demand? Unfortunately, the instructions and pop-up menu's are much clearer for Windows than they are for Mac.
