When one cartridge runs out then this shuts off the printer till it is replaced..and cartridges are not available locally only online... I had a print job to do and was unable to print till I ordered cartridges on line. I am very disappointed in this product and would return it if I could. Very cheaply made also...

Print head clogs and won't clean. Epson sent me 4, yes 4 replacement printers. All five printers had same problem. Not reliable. Junk. Do not buy!!!

The XP-850 is a good scanner and printer for photos, text, and CD's. The colors are rich and the photos look great! There are only two cons to this printer (1) every time I print from the rear slot it pulls the page through without printing and pulls another sheet from the bottom tray and prints on it. Not very helpful when I want to use a special paper or labels. (2) it is awkward to have to pullout and insert the CD tray. The Artisan I previously used did it automatically with a button push.

I bought an XP-850 4 months ago; I use it overall but want / need the photo printing aspect. It lasted about 2 months and Epson sent another one. That has lasted until a week ago and the photo printing went to heck on that one as well. I just got the third one. I like Epson printers in general and we have two others - including a wide format model for printing my larger photos which I sell. I need a reliable all in one photo printer and this does not do it.

I had written a negative review about the 310 XP all in one because the black had stopped printing after 2 months but I had not contacted the company yet...Well I don't know how to revise that review so I thought I would tell others about the GREAT service I got from Epson ,,,, they have made me a customer for life! I called their support line and the lady was very nice even though I was ranting and raving...we went through all the steps I had done to check the nozzle and then she told me that it was a hardware problem and they were sending me a brand new computer and I don't even have to go through the trouble of sending back the broken one. She said it would be here in 2-5 business days...this was the easiest problem solving I have ever had with any company..EPSON...YOU ROCK!!!!

One of starter ink cartridges supplied with printer did not work, despite repeated priming. Printer worked beautifully once new cartridges obtained. Scanner and copier and photo printing all worked well (bought XP 850 for photo quality printing). Have not used fax. Then paper from lower cassette started jamming; could not get resolution on help line, but eventually discovered independently that rear single sheet paper feed was not fully seated--problem solved. Make sure all cassettes are inserted fully! Somewhat noisy. Have always bought Epson printers and scanners-this is 3rd. printer, still have 2 previous, but wanted all-in-one to save space in office.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have the artison 800 series so I do not know if they have improved this with the new series...but the biggest frustration for us is that when one ink color runs out the printer will not print anything....even if what you're printing doesn't require that color...for instance...if you only need to print something in black and your yellow ink is out...the printer refuses to print. I feel this is a marketing ploy to make us buy more ink, which is where they make their money, in my opinion. I find that very frustrating and unfair to their customers. I will not buy another epson printer for this reason.
