Buy with hesitation

I like the quality and ease of use, but two things that have been frustrating are: we've had problems with ink cartridges, they run out too quickly and have bought some that have been faulty. Also, when the ink is out you can't do things like scanning that require no ink. Seems ridiculous to me. I'd buy another Canon if these were improved upon.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable, doesn't work when ink is out
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Paper Feed

As a scanner it's fine but as a printer it definitely sub par. I purchased this printer in July, about two months later I started having paper feed problems. My bottom tray no longer works and the back paper feed does not feed straight, the paper often crumples as it feeds through the machine.
Cons: High Ink Consumption, unreliable
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Very Happy with this product

This is my second printer from Cannon. It is quiet and fast. Does everything I need in a printer. I would reccomend it to anyone, I have had this one for 3 years and have never had any trouble with it.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, durable, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use

A quality made, quality performing machine! Does excellent photographs, scans and copies. The SDRAM card reader makes it very simple to print without turning the computer on. Ink prices are very reasonable.NIce Job, Canon! This will NOT be my last Canon product!

not well thought out

The scanner works really well but the printing function is very unpredictable. Even if you can find the very well hidden choice of Grayscale printing only, many times it will still print basic text with lines missing and weird red/gray colors throughout. If one of the color cartridges run out (which they do very quickly even thought we RARELY ever print anything in color) you are unable to print a basic word doc with just the black ink. Of course this always happens at 11pm at night when you desperately need it to just do the basic function of a printer.

The Super Canon Pixma MP610

I did a lot of reviewing before I chose this one. There were 3 that I liked, but I kept coming back to the MP610. When I first got it, I thought,"where will I put this big thing!" But I made room and glad that I did. I love the fact you don't have to turn your computer on to do something, like copying.
I also, like it because of the individual cartridges. When one runs out, you just have to replace that color. It is really easy on ink. I do a lot of picture printing and that fact helps.

This printer was recommended to me for scanning artwork and it has proven itself since day one. I had an MP160 before this, a nice but noisy machine. For just a few more dollars this one is heads and tails much better bordering on "great".
People having paper jam problems- make sure you use the correct weight and quality paper!
