Photo print isues

I've had this printer for nearly 2 years. It operates well - no mechanical issues, good b&w, easy to load paper and ink, but the photo reproduction is poor. Am running comparisons of color photos with a my friend's new (competing brand) and the differences is startling. My prints have blurry areas (focus?) and the color and contrasts are not easily adjusted. I never have produced a good clear set of prints.
Pros: Easy Setup, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: photos seem out of focus, colors too bright not enough contrast
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Solid Performer

I picked up a Pixma when they were about double the price they are today, but I think that it is still worth every dollar. Very quick to sync with the computer, about 10 seconds from power on to printing. Great buy now considering the price drop since its introduction. Is a bit of a big unit though, measure the space before you buy it. Cheers
Pros: speed, quick load up time, quality scanner
Cons: it's not a small machine

Best Printer

This is the 2nd 610 model that I purchased. Photos print out beautifully, and the editing program, especially the sharpening program works very well. I've been able to salvage and greatly improve poorer quality older photos by scanning them and then using the "sharpen" program. I had brought some old slides to a camera store and had them made into prints, which were disappointingly blurry. I scanned the prints with my 610 model, used the "sharpen" program, and printed some beautiful photos. I brought the photos back to the camera store to show them how much better my photos looked by using my Canon printer than their prints looked, and they were greatly impressed. The printer is easy to use, produces very nice quality photos, and changing the ink cartridges is a snap.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Heavy/Bulky

Great printer/scanner

After using other printers in the past, this is my fourth Canon in a row. Canon's printers are the first ink-jets in my experience that can sit for a week between print jobs and be ready to go each time (my non-Canon ink-jets would dry up and clog every time they sat for more than a day between uses). I love the 5-ink layout and the cartridges couldn't be easier to change. Best of all the colors match my screen. I could never get skin tones right before my Canons. Well done!

Excellent Value

CONS ARE BETTER EXPLAINED BELOW. CONSIDERING THE VALUE OF THIS DEVICE, THEY ARE EASY TO LIVE WITH. This multifunction device has yet to fail me after 10 months of use. It has all the functions I've ever needed, save a fax funtion. It has very good definition on documents, and reproduces very well. The photos I have printed from it are beautifully rendered. The software it came with is very satisfactory. Shortcomings are: it is on the larger side and needs space, digital menu can be confusing, I would like to see faster printing (but I'm told I'm impatient!), and ink is always expensive, altho' no worse than other printers I've owned. I would definitely buy it again.
Pros: Lightweight/Portable, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors, best buy
Cons: Large Footprint, Slow Print Speed, High Ink Consumption, control menu can be confusing

This printer has worked flawlessly for nearly 8 months. Although I really have to comment on how wrong one of the previous reviewers were. This printer barely uses any ink. They must have each print be high resolution instead of regular or draft. Also, Canon printers typically have the largest ink cartridges for this class of printer. Do yourself a favor and scrap whatever HP, Epson, etc printer out and get a Canon.

My software cd got lost!!!!

I didnt know you could download the software from the website to your compur\ter. I just bought a new laptop and i had no idea where the software cd went. So i friend suggested downloading from the manufacturing site. Which i did and it was so simple. THank you!
