I BOUGHT G-9 IN DECEMBER'07, I TOOK MORE THAN 1200 PICTURES TILL NOW. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS POWER SHOT. PROFESSIONAL AS WELL AS AMETURES BOTH LIKE THE RESULTS.

Best point and shoot ever

This is easily one of the best camera's I have ever owned. Time-lapse and RAW format are awesome to have in such a small package. Definitely worth the money!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance

This camera has stopped working twice once in california under warranty and once in PARIS Fr that time it really irritated me. Nice camera WHEN it works.

Rushed Purchase, Bad Decision

Although I like the features, such as color accent and flash output control... I am not happy at ALL with how the background will not blur when set on a low f-stop. The background is just as clear as when using a higher f-stop. And there's a small range of f-stops too, not happy with that either. And like another reviewer said, the manual does not tell why you would want to turn the ND filter on or off and what it even is. For background blurring, I'm forced to go back to my SLR for a portrait shoot coming up... how embarrassing! How I wish I would've tested DOF in the store before buying this camera!

Did I get a lemon?

I have used one Canon or another for the last 40 years. My old FT was stolen and replaced by an AE1, and I switched to digital as soon as they had a P&S. . . the A10, and upgraded to the 540.
I have loved every one of these until the G9. Making every possible adjustment, I cannot get the contrast to look natural in a shot where there is great variance in value. e.g., bright snow on dark leaves looks like op-art--completely not like the eye sees it.
I like many features, such as the on camera ISO control, and the big glass LCD, but also feel at ISO above 400 is too much noise. I used a friend's G9 for a night and had no such problems. . . maybe I need to return this for servicing. Also, the manual, while thorough in listing the features, does not tell you why for instance you would want an ND filter on or off. . .

far superior to any camera

recently i moved and my camera was stolen. i cried as it was a big part of me it went everywhere i did it has taken over 1000 photos all of which was never better.
it will be sadly missed. i can not buy another as the place i bought it from only sells G10-----and G11
it was a far superior product to any thing i have owned.
