great camera

this is an amazing camera. It has a number of features ive yet to learn them all. Clarity is great and this camera takes great wildlife and floral pictures. Great for nature and includes the macro setting unfortunately someone ran it over with a mack truck. it still works but im planning on getting another (not the g10)
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable
Cons: Complicated controls/menu

Well Worth It

I went through a few less expensive cameras that lacked durability, lost picture quality and had battery issues. Mega pixels aren't everything. I was hesitant to spend the extra money but found it well worth it to move up a notch in quality. Much more durable and better light gathering ability and lot's of manual settings. I shouldn't have to replace it for a long time. It is a nice option when I don't want to lug around my big lense.
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, light gathering ability

Best Camera in G Series since G5

I believe the G9 is the best compact digital point and shoot camera in Canon's G series since the G5. I would prefer the G9 over the G10 as well.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable, raw file output

This was well worth what i payed. A professional camera, with professional usage...
Many pros including it's long-lasting0life, charger V.S. battery, great brand, MANY more.

I am so happy I waited to find the right digital camera-I shopped around and researched for about a year, as this was my first digital camera purchase. I highly recommend this camera. The pictures are awesome and I absolutely appreciate the 3 in. display. The zoom is very nice as well. The ease of charging the battery myself is so convienent.

PowerShot G9 Is A Great Camera

I had the Canon PowerShot SD450 and the Canon PowerShot SD900 before the G9. Both cameras were fantastic compact cameras. But the G9 is far superior. If you don't mind carrying this camera around in a small camera bag then this is for you!
It's too big for your pocket but it is a great digital camera overall. I have yet to discover all the features of this but it is a fantastic camera for the casual user. Controls are confusing to me, but that's because i'm an amateur! Maybe i'll learn one day.

Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Heavy/Bulky

Stop turning on

Purchased the G9 in Feb 2008 and it has taken great shots of family gatherings and scenery. At our last family gathering just 15 minutes before a special event was to take place, the G9 would not turn on and there was no back up camera. I was very upset, the store that it was purchased from is out of business. I would suggest that you buy the additional warranty for two to three years. I now have a back up camera while waiting for the G9 to be repaired.....
Pros: excellent image quality, good battery life

My digital camera evolution within Canon has been SD450 to S80 to G9, with no disappointments in each step!
The G9 has features that I've just started to explore even after 6 months..., battery life is good, predictable and shares with the S80. The lcd is beautiful and I use the 'face' technology features frequently with the kids.
I do however find my self grabbing the S80 because of the size, I need to find a better case for the G9 than the bulky recommended Canon unit that I presently use.
This is a great camera with no reservations from my perspective.
