Not great - not the worst

This is a nice quiet shredder if noise is an issue for anyone. However, it really cannot handle any more than 3 to 4 sheets of paper at a time, so shredding becomes a time consuming labor intensive activity. It definitely shreds into small particles, which is a plus over strips. But, for being able to shred any amount of documents, one has to get a chair and sit down in front of it. The safety sensor is very selective - you have to hold the paper away from it, so you can't just let go and let the shredder do its job. We are disappointed in it at our office and wish we had chosen a different model.
Cons: Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Sheet Capacity, very slow
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Fantastic Shredder

This shredder is amazing! I use it for large volumes of personal identifiable information on a recurring basis. I never have to worry about overuse because the warning light notifies me when the motor needs to cool down. The micro shred result guarantees that no one can recover your personal information. It also handles CDs and credit cards. It's safe and will stop working if you touch any area near the cutting blades. Very easy to maintain with the lubricating oil recommended in the owner's manual. The stroage bags can handle large amounts of shredded documents. A fantastic product that I highly recommend.
I have been using the shredder for about a week and a half. It works well.
The manual is unbelievably poor.
There is a small been that attaches to the upper rim of the pull out bin. It is never identified. I think it serves to catch shredded cd's & credit cards.
There is no clarification as to whether the machine should be cooled by turning it off or left running.
Maintenance is the most serious issue. The instructions say to "oil when bin is full, or immediately, if: capacity decreases or motor sounds different, or shredder stops running". Further instructions say "apply oil across entry"
To get clarification, I called your tech support twice.
First tech: Oil every 15 min. while in reverse. Run forward 3-4 sec., then run in reverse 3-4 sec.
Second tech: Oil with steady stream left to right and then right to left while in reverse. Can not over oil this machine.
Pros: Secure Cut Size

A Great Shredder

The MS-450Cs Micro-Cut Shredder does by far the best job of destroying documents of any shredder I have owned (both strip-cut and cross-cut). It is an ideal size for home use and operates very quietly. Since it is primarily for occasional home use both the sheet capacity and duty cycle are adequate but limited. If you have a lot to shred be prepared to spread it out over time or purchase a model with a higher sheet capacity and longer duty cycle. The micro-cut size is good for securely destroying documents but the small pieces can be a little messy when emptying the bin. Keeping a small vacuum cleaner nearby helps to clean up the small pieces that seem to want to get away. Overall I think this is a quality shredder and it does a great job for its size and purpose intended.
Pros: Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Secure Cut Size, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Service Guarantee, Warranty
Cons: Mess Reduction, Sheet Capacity

extraordinarily secure and extremely quiet

If you're looking for an extraordinarily secure and extremely quiet shredder, this is the one to buy. Period.
I have to do a lot of shredding in my work, and I have burned my way through quite a few shredders. I have never thought that there was such a thing as a 'quality' shredder. The ones I've had in the past have been pretty flimsy, noisy and weak. This shredder, on the other hand, is what a shredder SHOULD be. It really does do 5-7 sheets at once, it is very quiet, it does not strain or smell bad, and if, in the course of much shredding, it overheats, it shuts itself off and cools down and then is ready to work again. It shreds into quite tiny confetti, it can do CD's and credit or ID cards if one needs that, and it is designed so that it is difficult to get hurt by it. It really is so much better than what I had before that colleagues have been stopping by to try it. Shredders are not commonly thought of as exciting, but compared to all the ones I've had before, this one rises to the occasion.
Pros: Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Secure Cut Size, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Sheet Capacity

A high quality shredder that even lives up to the high expectations of my spouse who works in the document security business. It even has a separate slot for CDs/DVDs, and is very quiet compared to our last shredder.
Pros: Quality Construction, Jam Resistance, Safety Features, Quiet Operation, Secure Cut Size, Mess Reduction, Shreds Credit Cards, Staples and CDs, Sheet Capacity, Service Guarantee, Warranty
