Dead after 9 years

Didn’t expect it to die after 9 years. Now I’m in the market for a new one that won’t match my other appliances. It started some buttons stopped working and then all of a sudden everything went out.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

GE Profile PVM1870SM1SS died after 8 years

The light turns on but microwave will not heat food anymore. I will never buy a GE product again. I changed out the thermal fuse and still will not work.
I have a matching set of profile appliances. The microwave looks new.
It's very costly to replace every 6-8 years. Not a quality product. I will not recommend to any of my friends.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Looks great and works well. It is quiet too. Large capacity inside.
The control panel is a little small and controls hard to read for my old eyes(61).
Hope this lasts as long as my old GE Profile that I had since 1997!!
Only other complaint is that the GE Profile line has gotten so expensive, but I am hooked on this line as they last so long. I only have GE Profile appliance due to their quality.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Been Serving Our Family Quite Well

We purchased this is 2008 and it still looks and works great! My only concern is that the turntable stopped working, and doesn't appear to reset. Then last week out of the blue it was working unexpectedly and then stopped, again. Any suggestions? I didn't see any Troubleshooting Tips for this type of problem in the owners manual.

Couldn't even squeeze 3 years out of this microwave. Control panel is non-responsive. Waste of $ and time.

We are more than happy to assist you with this microwave. It looks like this unit is well out of warranty. In some cases, such as this one, it is more cost effective to replace the unit opposed to repairing it. Since the contents of this microwave are peeling, we recommend replacing this unit due to the age.

Profile PVM1870SM1SS microwave

I purchased this microwave a month ago and so far it has worked fine. The only issue I have with the unit so far is the control pad. It is basically black on black and in low light situations it is impossible to read the digital control buttons. My old GE JVM1870 microwave was white with dark letters and numbers on the control pad which made it very easy to read in light or dark conditions. The new one I just purchased should have had an option to select a backlit control pad to make the options easier to read. If it wasn't such a pain to install and remove the unit I probably would return it.

LOOKS GREAT!

This microwave; like MANY others we came to find out upon our research almost caught our house on fire. It continued to cook when what was in the oven was done/had stopped. We had to unplug it to make it stop. We were told the magnatron had gone bad but we didnt' take any chances and quickly returned it, we had only had it for 3 months. There are horror stories of people's houses burning down and fires that started b/c of the problem w/this microwave and it has been going on for YEARS (10+).
