Stopped working after less than 2 years

I'm glad I came to this page to see the reviews before I bought another one of these. Just stopped working and will now have to replace. The black control panel is not illuminated, so you can never read the controls in the dark. Will not buy ANYTHING GE again.

Horrible Quality...don't buy GE Microwaves

This microwave looks great...and that's the only good thing to say about it. After one year it started 'shorting' out and then magically coming back on a few minutes later. There was no rhyme or reason to it. We even paid for an electrician to come out and check the circuit...which was fine. The 'shorting' out continued to get more frequent and took longer to recover. Now (after only four years) it is completely dead and must be replaced. I won't be replacing it with another GE, even though the rest of my appliances match.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Turns on but won’t heat

Microwave just quit heating. I replaced the fuses and the diode and still nothing. Any suggestions on what else it could be? The magnetron is a much more expensive fix. Is it worth replacing?

Was a good microwave but only lasted 10 years. I felt for the price it should have lasted longer. What is a good replacement with simiar dimensions??

we bought this microwave a little over 3yrs ago and we have to already buy another microwave

We bought this microwave a little over 3yrs ago and we have to already buy another one! We've bought cheaper microwaves that have lasted us alot more than this one! We needed an over the range microwave and wanted it to match our stove (which we bought at same time--GE profile# ...paid more for prob those 2 reasons versus buying a simple white countertop microwave. We did buy a simple countertop microwave for our son a few years before we bought our GE microwave and his is still working #he also uses his alot more than we do!)!!! We wont buy another GE and hope our stove doesnt break now!
