After reviewing other scanners, I decided on the Canon. Installation was easy and within minutes, I was scanning 35mm slides at the rate of almost 100 per hour. Slick!
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint

Fast and easy

This scanner is so fast and easy. It saves me a couple of hours a week, which means it paid for itself in less than a week. I mainly use it for documents, but I bought it with pictures in mind, if I ever get around to scanning the thousands of pictures and negatives in my collection. I have scanned lots of pictures with great results but haven't tried slides or negatives yet. I am particularly impressed with the speed - no warm up. And the scan to PDF files is a major plus. My wife has a fancy competitor's scanner that is geared to the artsy set that is a royal pain to use compared to the Canon 8800F and the results aren't as good. If Canon would wrap the speed and ease of the 8800f into a portable scanner, I'd buy one also.
Pros: easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, no warmup needed, scans to pdf, good simple software
Cons: Large Footprint, not "portable"

This was my first real negative scanner. I shot 35mm and medium format and needed a scanner to keep this in order. The 35 mm works great. I have had some trouble with scanning the medium format negatives. The scanner continues to think there is nothing under the glass. Overall I would buy this in a second. Very easy to use, Great quality.
Pros: Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning
Cons: medium format issues

I am extremely happy

I was a little skeptical at first. I had negatives that were in bad shape and the 8800f cleaned them up 98% before I even scanned them into Photo-shop. I was also able to scan 110 and 120 film sizes using the 35mm Guide Mount. Also the old black and white photos were a breeze. Original pictures that were printed over exposed cleared up as if there was never a problem with the exposure. I am extremely happy with my purchase and will recommend it fully.
Pros: durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution
Cons: it is a little large but is livable

This scanner has function perfectly for me from The Vista pc that it was originally installed and now its being moved to a Win 7 pc. I expect it to function in the same great manner that it has served me on the Vista version. It scanned Slides, Pictures, Film Strips, Negatives, all kinds of pictures, documents and even my grand kids faces and hands and feet. It has been great.
Pros: durable, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use, very reliable, maintence free over 2yrs, high quality scans

Great Scanner

I bought this scanner because my sister had sent an old family photo album with photos dating back to my grand parents from both sides of the family and some of the photos are over a hundred years old. Some have been folded or are badly faded but with this scanner and Adobe Photoshop they are coming back to life.
With the scanner that I had before this one I just wasn't satisfied with the results that I was getting but the Canon 8800F does a fantastic job. I've not had a chance to try the film or slide functions as yet because Ive only had it for about two months and I have about a years worth of photos to scan and process.
But this scanner makes my work a lot easier.
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution
Cons: haven't found any
