The 8800F made my conversion to a digital darkroom possible. I can develop film and print digitally, and not give up my 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 cameras.
Pros: Compact Design, High resolution, easy to use, ability to scan 2 1/4" (120) negatives
Cons: Flimsy Construction

I have pictures and films over 2 thousand, for about twenty years old, I had other scanners but they never perform like Canoscan, they go directly to a file, the more I used it, the better i get to better resolution, autoscan etc. Is a little priciii but is worth buying it. Is fast and it doesn't need to warm to used it, Really easy to share to family member and sent them pictures of year before, any kind of pictures, any type of films... Thank You.
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use

Just what I needed

I purchased a new 8800F for considerably less than $199. I am impressed with how fast it scans and the quality. I have scanned 35mm color negatives, all sizes of color and black and white photos, and newspaper articles. It has scanned 8x35mm color negatives in 5 minutes. It scans multiple photos and separates them into individual files in less than a minute with outstanding quality. The newspaper scans were very crisp and clear. I couldn't be happier. I have always wanted to digitize some of the older photos, negatives, and slides my family has and with the 8800F it has been great. Thanks Canon.

THE FLY IN THE OINTMENT

Canon makes fine scanners, but beware their negative/slide scanners. The "film guides" - the flat plastic negative holders - are flimsy and will break over time. Replacements are also unavailable from Canon or any other source. The scanner itself is big, solid and sturdy, but a part that is integral to scanning negatives is cheesy and unworthy of Canon. The designers of the Canon film scanners are probably 23 years old and don't have a backlog of negatives that need scanning and don't own their product.
Pros: easy to use
Cons: Flimsy Construction

I came close to writing a fan letter to Canon on the 8800F. It is one product that does what the advertising says. It is easy to set up, easy to use and turns out fantastic results. I was scanning old 35mm negatives literally within minutes of the UPS guy dropping it at my door. For the price and compared to an older scanner of another brand which I was replacing, it is fantastic. Very happy with the product.
Pros: Compact Design, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, truly intuitive

Best Scanner for this price!

My previous scanner was very disappointing in it's ability to scan slides in that it produced streaks and introduced a prohibitive amount of luminance and color noise. The first time I scanned a slide with the 800f I jumped for joy!! Now I have no qualms in scanning slides for use in presentations whether professionally or otherwise. Plus, the time involved in post-work correction (with image editing software) is drastically reduced. I am a confirmed Canon scanner convert and user!
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution

This scanner can discern multiple photos in one scan and separate them into individual photos. The pre-set scans for magazines and photos is very helpful. And the programming for despeckling is as good as any of the other programs out there. This scanner was a great value.
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Fast Connectivity, High resolution, High-speed scanning, easy to use

The CanoScan 8800F is the easiest scanner to set up and use that I have found to date. I have started to use it to scan in old photos and 35mm film. It has a fast scan time and the output is easy to use.
Pros: Compact Design, durable, easy to use, High-speed scanning, Fast Connectivity, High resolution
