This printer was provided to me by my employer. It has seen several homes and much transport and I have never had a problem. It prints well and seems to use Ink rather quickly, but that a non issue as any printer of this type is designed to use a lot of ink if your printing photos. The scan function is seamless and is what I use more than anything. Good quality printing of documents, but not so much on the photos. It's big and bulky, but it works when I need it to. I wouldn't have spent my own money on a printer made by a company known for its cameras, but free it's a good printer.
Pros: scanner, decent printing
Cons: bulky, ink hog
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

High Quality Printer

I have owned a Epson, HP, and Kodak, before I bought the PIXMA MX310. All of these together do not match the quality of this Cannon. Setup was a snap, no problems at all. All functions work great, especially the fax feature, which was one of its selling points. That and the overall cost.
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption, ink refills expensive

Good price, poor substitute for specilized hardwar

I had hoped to replace several specialized pieces of office equipment with this all-in-one, but found it generally could not provide the high-quality performance I have come to expect.
A little slow but good as a b&w copier. Color scans, however, are VERY low quality. Great as a printer, but if that's all you need, you can get a much cheaper and smaller one with just as good color.
Will not print faxes when ink is "low" (which happens about five print jobs after ink is installed). Faxes then have to be tediously retrieved from memory and manually printed.
I don't think I would have bought this product, even at the delightfully low price, if I had known how quickly it would decide it was "low on ink" and cease to function normally. I had also hoped to replace my scanner, but there is not way I can get by on the pixels produced by this machine's quicky scans.

Excellent quality printing I chose this particular printer because of the fax capability The start up is much slower running through the cycles to start printing then other printers that I have had but the printing speed is quite fast I used it add greeting and our names to the inside of Christmas cards and it handled that very well by putting the printing where it should by accepting the heavier card stock with the pickup rollers constantly.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption

Great Printer

I bought a mx310 about a year ago. I use it to make copies of my artwork, and I also print photographs...I have no complaints about them...before this, I also had another canon printer...they are all I buy. It is affordable, and not so bad on ink usage.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Before I purchased the Cannon all-in-one, I was using a printer from HP which was great, but I am now taking online classes, and I needed to scan, copy, fax, and print materials for class.
Cannon has a fabulous product here. I expected the ink consumption to be high and the price of cartridges to be a little more expensive. You get what you pay for sometimes. Thank you Cannon for making my life a little bit easier!!

It's for me because I do a lot of printing and I take a lot of pictures and the quality is excellent and fast
