Our printer went out and we couldn't afford aanything real expensive. After a lot of research, I found this for an awesome price at Costco. And it has worked GREAT! And the ink cartridges aren't as expensive to replace as the HP either. I would diffinitely recommend this printer.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice but the Ink Tank System Problematic
on November 30, 2008

It operated nicely and was easy to set up through the wireless Airport. The convenience of combined operations is helpful. There is a major problem with the ink consumption rate and the costs associated with the tank/printer head system. The print heads come with the ink tanks and they are pricey. About 85% of our usage (academic) requires just black ink and 300 pp are about the limit on a black tank. If a color in the color tank is low, the printing is shut off although there is a full black ink tank installed. If allowed to sit unused for an extended period, the ink in the system hardens and requires a major overhaul whose cost equals that of machine replacement.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable
Cons: High Ink Consumption, ink cartridge costs high

Good, but not excellent

I bought the Canon Pixma MX310 with high hopes. Overall, I am happy with this printer, with the exception of the amount of ink it uses, and the fact that when copies are made, they don't come out looking too great, especially for as quickly as it goes through an ink cartridge just printing small things online. I have yet to use the printer for any photo printing, but I am assuming that the cartridges won't last for the amount of copies quoted online...I switched to the CL-50 & CL-51 cartridges because I was not impressed with the CL-40 & CL-41 (the cartridges included with the new MX310 printer).
Pros: Compact Design, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed
Cons: High Ink Consumption, Dull Tones & Colors, poor color copies from platen surface

I love this printer because of the price and also because of having a scanner, fax, copier, and printer. I have always used Canon and I trust the name. The Pixma 310 was a great value and the quality of the pictures just blows me away. And printing out documents is a breeze. I still say Canon products are the best.....

Takes a long time to pull the paper to get a print. Also the buzzing does not stop, even if you shut down to rest.

Great Quality, but Horrible Cartridge Life
on November 9, 2009

I'm very happy with the quality and reliability of this printer, but my biggest complaint is the cartridge life. Yes, inkjet printers are notorious for cartridges not lasting long and being expensive to replace, but this is enough for me to never purchase another Canon printer, even though I had wanted one for a few years. The ink cartridge that came with the printer lasted probably 150-200 pages (simple text, no fancy printing). I figured that they probably had a "cheap" ink cartridge that came with the printer, so I ordered the highest volume ink cartridge that Canon makes for this printer through Canon's website, and it lasted only about 300 pages, with no more than 10 of them being anything more than simple text. So, my printer sits and collects dust as I don't want to continually buy ink cartridges for it. I really love my Canon camera, and I love most everything about the printer, but I'll have to go with another brand of printer next time.
