Great network printer
on January 25, 2009

I purchaced this printer in December of 2007 and it has givin me no trouble. I do use this with my home network and it works great once it was set up. Setting up on the network was a little difficult and if I need to add a computer to my network, setting the computer to use this printer is a pain.Overall it is a great printer.
Pros: easy to use, fast print speed, reliable
Cons: Difficult Setup
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Product

I have had this product for a year. I have gone through two sets of ink and am ready to put in new one. The ink cartridges last a very long time and the machine produces excellent quality. I have had other printers at home and in the office and this one is by far the best. The scanning and faxing features work beautifully. The photo quality is the best I have seen. I do not copy much mostly scan and print and fax.
It was very easy to set up and the weight makes it sturdy and is not excessive.
EXCELLENT PRODUCT AND WELL WORTH THE COST.
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: none

Now Happy with My MX700
on April 21, 2009

I have read the reviews, especially the con's of the MX700. Although I do not use the Fax at present, I still went with the 700, because of the Canon Name, and prompt service support friends received with theirs. Yes, I had crooked prints and jammed paper , but it was all due to my NOT following the instructions in the Manual. I was putting in too much paper (above the paper guide arrow and horizontal line mark), both in the front and rear paper trays. Granted the lines for the marks are difficult to see, but I solved my problems caused by my zeal to start printing and paper loading. I am real pleased with my choice in purchasing the MX700.
I have only written 2 reviews in my life of a product. I also purchased the MX330 for home use. The PIXMA series (If you read the instruction manual carefully especially on loading the paper and do not exceed the limits, ) you will be very pleased wih this MX700.

Pros: durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors, instruction manual very good compared to others, save ink: ink slection choice.
Cons: paper loading guide quantity marks hard to see

Good Replacement Printer

The color print speed is relatively fast, even with full color copies. This printer lets you print when it thinks the ink is gone. These cartridges are very easy to refill.
This printer often needs "mental preparation" when you first turn it on and print. It will make a few noises, move the print head back and forth a few times, then print/copy.
The software works well with fast (3GHz) and slow (400MHz) computers running Windows XP. I have not tried Vista because it needs 2GB of RAM.
When using the LAN, you need to do it in 3 steps.
1:When you get to choose the connection type pick the last one and cancel the part when it tries to find the LAN connected printer because it won't find the printer.
2:Go to printers/faxes and choose add a printer. Select local printer and uncheck the auto detect. Choose create a new port and select "Canon BJNP". Then type the IP address. When the setup asks if you would like to override the current driver choose yes. If you choose no, the setup won't work.
3: Go back to the canon CD and navigate to CanonCD\Win\Lan\English\Setup.exe This is the setup you canceled in step 1. Now, it should find your printer. Choose it and all the scanning/printing will now work.
Pros: fast print speed, Sharp Tones & Colors, cheap ink

The best networked all in one

I have installed two of these for family and they love them. A friend installed one and also likes it. It jut works over the network and that is great for the typical home with laptops and wifi.
It should come with a USB cable that is required for the initial setup.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, easy to use, reliable, networked

Excellent Purchase

Printing is fast and high quality. Haven't found ink usage to be excessive. Copies and scans are quick and high quality. Faxes are excellent, as well. My only two comments are it's bulk, could be smaller, and the auto fax interrupts phone calls, even tho it is set not to auto-answer on my voice fax line. They should rethink the process. Epsons approach is much better in this regard, tho not as good a unit overall.
Pros: durable, Easy Setup, easy to use, fast print speed, Low Ink Consumption, reliable, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky
