Serves Its Purpose

I really enjoy using this unit because of its single brewing capabilities. I was that guy who would make a pot of coffee, drink 2 cups and the rest would sit there for an hour in the pot burning up. Not sure what issues other users are running into about cleaning this thing, but this machine is by far VERY EASY to clean. Pull the craddle the k-cups sit in and simply run it under hot water. If you haven't cleaned it in a while, soak it in hot water with dish liquid. Cleaning the rim, just remove the 2 screws on top and it comes right off...rinse under hot water and screw back up. Very simple. The biggest disappointment with the machine and k-cups are the strength of the coffee. I like to go with the 10oz setting, but the K-cups do not hold enough grounds to get the bold flavor I am looking for. What I started doing was brewing 2 k-cups on the smallest setting and that worked out well. However, who wants to run through 2 K's to get 1 cup?? I finally decided to get the reusable K-cup and thats been working out a lot better. I get more coffee for my $$, fill it up with grounds twice and brew on the smallest setting to every cup I drink. Its worked out well for me. Especially when using Starbucks Sumatra and other dark roasted coffee.

Cons: Expensive

Second Unit - first lasted ~4 years

Reveived as a gift. So for the first 3 years used for special occasions only. Then used for 1 year everyday when our regular coffee maker stopped working. Had to use vinegar cleaning 2 times - first when we tried hot chocolate. Then the Keurig electronics started to go. Then it did not power up at all. But I have lots of Keurig Cups so had to buy another.
Pros: Fast, New Unit Has Water Filter, Stylish, Easy to use
Cons: Not durable, Limited Cup Sizes

Our first Keurig

We decided to try the Keurig after our 10+ year-old drip coffee maker died. My wife isn't a big coffee drinker but does like the variety of flavored versions. I work from home so being able to make a single cup when I want it, the way I want it, is a selling point. I like coffee and tea (hot or iced) so the new Keurig is sort of an experiment for us. Yes it is an expensive purchase compared to a drip coffee maker but the variety of drinks and speed of use is what sold us. I use Britta filtered water so I hope that helps to minimize mineral deposits in the unit. I will go through a cleaning cycle soon to see if anything develops. Hopefully this will be a good purchase for more than just a few years - so far we haven't regretted the decision.

The Special Edition Brewing System is designed and UL approved for household use. Keurig recommends customers use Keurig brewers consistent with their intended use.

I love that this one has a filter for tap water. other wise it would get even more expensive to buy filtered water. yes, it is a little pricey, but they all are pricey... win some lose some.

For the people that had cons on this product, I suggest to stick with the stove top pots and boil your coffee.
Pros: Fast, Easy use, Well Designed, Durable, Multiple Settings, Easy to use

While I basically like the machine and have two of them, its components are poorly made. Pumps give out quickly and internal control mechanism gets confused as whether to make coffee or return water to the tank. Not a good value.
Pros: Fast, Easy to use
Cons: Poor Quality Pump, Pricey / Poor Value
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
