Hesitant at first, but now a believer!

I was concerned when buying this brewer that it would be less than reliable. I had read other reviews for both this model and other models and had seen several comments that made me uncomfortable about noise and reliability problems.I had also heard people rave about the wonderful convenience and had enjoyed some very good coffee in a couple offices that had switched over to Keurig systems. The allure was more than I could resist, but still I was cautious.I choose the Special Edition because it incorporated the new "Quiet Brew" technology and from the reviews seemed that whatever reliability issues had existed had been addressed. We got the machine in March '10 and have been enjoying both its convenience and terrific coffee since. The best part of the Keurig experience is being able to choose and brew a single cup of coffee, hot chocolate, or tea while others in your house can choose something entirely different. No need to brew a full pot. No need to taste the lingering flavor of the previously brewed beverage. Yes, the K-cups do cost a bit more than buying a bag of coffee but I don't seem to mind that much. You can set the timer to turn the machine on a few minutes before you wake in the morning, so that there is little delay between your feet hitting the floor and your first cup. The system can also be programed to turn itself off after you leave for the office. Even if you don't use the timer it does not take but a minute or two for the brewer to come up to temperature.I have some small cups and use the small cup setting with an espresso roast k-cup for a flavorful jolt in the afternoon. The large size setting is used for my morning mug. You can pull out the drip tray to accommodate a large travel mug.The selection of k-cups at the store is limited, although they do have some. I prefer to order directly from this website. My wife and I have our standard flavors that we like, but always seem to add something new to each order. It's kind of fun waiting for the coffee to arrive with that something new. [...].The only thing I have found myself grousing about is having to re-fill the water reservoir. I chuckle at myself about it because its not like I didn't have to fill our old coffee maker for ever pot I brewed. I'm not sure that I would go to the trouble of running a separate water line but a larger reservoir would be nice. The one "big" issue I would encourage Keurig to consider is beefing up their warranty. These are pricey machines and at their price level the product should last for years. I hesitated to buy one because I was not sure whether it would last. That hesitancy could have been eliminated if the company said up front, "don't worry, if anything breaks on this machine we'll fix or replace it..." Having said that, I did call the support line once and had a very positive experience. So, now that we're about 5 months into our experience I can only report good things. I hope that I have not now jinxed myself with that, but for now I will finish enjoying my afternoon espresso and get back to work.
Pros: Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Stylish, Easy to use, Durable

Not so happy now.

Well, this is the second brewer I have had. This one, which we have had since January of '09, has now given up the ghost. I am a faithful de-scaler of this brewer, at least once per month. We use the filtered water from our fridge, turned down the temp, poke holes in the k-cups. Maybe they are only designed to last a couple of years, but that is an expensive item to replace that often. Sigh, not sure what to do now. Does the Cuisinart brand last longer? Any suggestions? I love the convenience of one cup at a time brewing, but I can't be replacing the brewer this often.
Cons: HARD TO CLEAN, Quits after a year

Great Taste, Weak Pump

Love the coffee and the maker, but when it started shutting itself off some internet research showed the problem...and the work-around. Special Ed. is quieter than the office version because the refill pump is underpowered. (When it's not pulling water the sound is higher pitched & shuts itself down; when working propery pump pitch is a little lower & growly-er.) Trick is to lift up the water reservoir and slam it back down, and it'll pull water like it should. -- I would recommend the Office Pro instead of this one. --
Pros: Multiple Settings, Easy to use, Stylish, Accommodates All Cup Sizes
Cons: Weak Pump, Shuts itself off

Best Small Investment I Ever Made!

I was always wasting coffee by making a pot and not drinking it all, and then throwing it away. With the Keurig, I can have tea or coffee any time I desire and any flavor. I absolutely love this handy little appliance and I'll never be without one again.
Pros: Durable, Stylish, Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Easy to use

Finally we can have it both ways

I used to waste lots of coffee and either my husband or myself had to do without their favorite flavor. With the K-cups we each get our own favorite every day. Also my husband is a very, very heavy tea drinker and we love the fact that we can mix tea flavors and get the same results every time (he loves the combo of Bigelow Earl Grey and organic green). We're just now having a issue with the pot and I hope descaling works. We live in TX where the water is terribly hard. If it's not fixed I'd still buy another Kuerig, it's just been too great an experience.
Pros: Easy to use, Stylish, Multiple Settings

I bought my Keurig over three years ago after writing a paper about Green Mountain. GMCR had recently purchased Keurig. GMRC sounded like such a great company that I decided to purchase a Keurig brewer. We love it and use it everyday.
Pros: Durable, Easy to use, Multiple Settings, Stylish

GREAT BREWER!

We LOVE our brewer and use it every day-often more than once a day. the resevior is great since you dont have to refil it each time like the mini. 3 cup sizes for the tea cup, coffee cup, and coffee mug. one thing that i thought about when i purchased it was will i want the iced coffee too? well, you can actually use this brewer (any of them even tho they dont say cold brew) for cold tea or coffee just by brewing over ice. the brewer is quiet, functions like a dream, low maintenance. great investment!
Pros: Durable, Easy to use, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Quiet, Low Maintenance, Multiple Settings, Stylish

I love my K-cupper!!!

I own 3 Keurig coffee makers. My husband got me the Special Edition 3 years ago for Christmas. I have an Elite at our beach house and I have a mini so I can travel with my K-cupper anytime. I have turned several friends onto Keurig and they love it. I am a 2 cup a day drinker and I have never had any trouble with any of my makers. I was thinking of ordering the Platinum, but the reviews don't seem too favorable. I will stick with what I have!
Pros: Multiple Settings, Accommodates All Cup Sizes, Durable, Easy to use
