Does its job well

I had a GE refrigerator like this one before, and felt to upgrade to a 2014 version of it. It is quiet and I like the display of the actual temperature of the refrigerator and the freezer.

The appliance has no leveling adjustment. Not all floors are perfectly level. The door with full shelves is too heavy to automatically close .

I have been a general Electric owner for over forty years and have been extremely pleased with all the products I have purchased. My most recent purchase is one I have waited for for years to be able to purchse. I am throughly pleased with my new side by side refrigerator.

Good not great. . .

We purchased this fridge for two main reasons: good price and made in USA. I read some reviews mentioning it was noisy before purchasing but I have not noticed noise to the extent they mentioned.
This fridge does make noise, it is actually louder than the 10 year old fridge it replaced, but it is not loud enough to bother us. Our kitchen opens directly to our living room and we never notice the fridge when watching TV. When it is quiet in the house at night and I'm sitting in the living room I can certainly hear the fridge but it doesn't bother me- don't really know what else to say about that.
We looked over the fridge section at our local home improvement store and searched for the made in USA fridges. This fridge was produced in America and that checked our first box (we believe in supporting our fellow Americans!). Our old fridge was side by side and this fridge is slightly larger and I like the adjustable shelves and the fact that the fridge shelves slide out!
Ice maker works fine. We don't use lots of ice but it has kept up with our demands (family of 3). One thing to note is you can't get ice directly out of the freezer! At night when everyone is in bed and I want ice I still have to churn it through the door :( bummer- it's loud!
To rate 5 stars: make fridge quieter, and add a way to get ice directly from the ice maker!

Easy install

Only have had this for a few days. However, the installation was very easy and straight forward. The fridge was ready to use within 24 hours.
