I LOVE this printer! Until I found it I never used anything but labs but this printer has me printing from home! So many choices of sizes, so fast and the quality can't be touched! I would pay LOTS more for a printer of this quality so the value is great, too! Basically out of the box, plug it in and you are printing-it doesn't get any better than that! Way to go, Epson!
I would recommend this to a friend!

The picturemate 260 Dash was given to me as a christmas present about 2 years ago.At first it did a great job.But after I let it sit for about 2 months without printing pictures the print quality was off.I bougt a new cartridge to help with the cleaning and the Dash used the ENTIRE cartridge to get the print heads right again.I've tried again and again to replace the cartridges at considerable cost to me.And wound up with tons of extra photo paper for my trouble. Overall this product is a waste of money.I could have spent that same money I used to buy all the extra cartridges to have a photo lab print my pics and had the pics in my albums right now.Instead I have a pile of unused paper,a worthless printer and a digital card full of unprinted photos from nearly a year and a half ago.

NOT cost-effective

I have had this printer for the past year. I use this printer as a form of printing preview to cull out those prints that are suitable for my Epson 1400. The print quality is incredible on this little beggar, but that is the end of the good points. It is very expensive to print with. I have NEVER gotten the ink usage that Epson says you will get. I suppose that if I printed a picture the size of a postage stamp I might get good cartridge life, but that ain't gonna happen. The cost of the ink cartridge is a rip. If I go a week without printing, I have to clean the printheads and waste a LOT of ink.
Bottom line... Pro... Wonderful print quality.
Cons... Maintenance costs are too high. Very poor Print to Ink Costs ratio.
This is a NO recommendation.

I have had this photo printer for a couple years now, and my mom has the same one (which is why I bought it). I think it's great for the price of the actual printer, altho photo paper & print cartridges can get expensive depending on how much printing you are doing.
My one BIG issue with this printer is that if you haven't used it in a couple weeks, the next time you print, the pictures are all stripey and faded-looking. I used to always run the diagnostic tools every time this happens, which wastes a lot of paper and ink. Then one day I realized you can just wait a day, then try again, and usually by then it has cleared up and is fine.
But what's annoying about this is that you can't print pictures on a whim when you want to, and also if you wait TOO long, then you have the same problem yet again (plus wasted paper every time).
So my advice is to use this printer for things like printing a big cache of pics, and getting them all out of the way at once. The quality is great. Otherwise it can be annoying if you only want to print 1 or 2 pics at random every once in a while (which is more my style).
