Love these appliances!

Just got these appliances but gave them a good workout yesterday and today washing and drying clothes that I had been unable to wash with our appliances broken. I loved everything about both the washer and the dryer. Clothes are clean, they dry quicker than before and operation of machines is simple. I look forward to using these appliances for many years to come.

Noisy Knocker

I bought this dryer because of its name brand, ease of use and price and I have had it's matching washer for almost 2 years with no problems. The day it was installed it started normal and after a few minutes it made a grinding/knocking sound. I thought it was unbalanced and rearranged the clothes and double checked the legs on the machine to make sure they were level as well but the grinding, rattling, knocking continued. On the second day of use the rattle/knock was more dominate and It started to squeak and five minutes from turning it on, it would shut itself off. We did some troubleshooting and determined that the groove for the belt in the drum was not aligned with the belt (slightly out of round and the seem didn't match, like a defect from the factory) causing it to knock with every rotation and maybe causing it to shut off. It seemed to be drying the clothes okay but sounded like we were trying to dry a load of rocks and boots, not clothes. I went to exchange it for the GE 7.0 capacity dryer and was told they had 3 in stock but one was the display model and the other 2 were returns for repair as well. Needless to say, I gave up on getting a GE and just exchanged it for a different brand altogether. I have always thought GE to be a reliable brand to depend on and bought several appliances with the GE name for over 20 years but it seems the quality of the product has gone down or I happened to get that one bad apple in the bunch.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This dryer is great. The capacity is huge, the clothes come out dry but not TOO dry. Lhe light inside the drum is a real bonus. I'm glad it has an end of cycle buzzer because it is so quiet. Looks great too. I'm very happy with this purchase.

We had to purchase this due to an emergency with our old dryer (10-years-old). Wanted to stick with a GE brand as we had obviously had great success with our other one. The use is easy and I like that we can turn the done signal off. It is much quieter than our old one.
