I bought this unit because it was on clearance and hoped it wouild atleast pick up dog hair under the furniture. It became my cleaning partner! I get home start the vaccum and it cleans the floors while I cook dinner. It was the best [$] I have ever spent. It been a little over a year and it finally broke but I got my monies worth. I hope I can get another for Christmas.
Pros: Cleans Effectively, Cleans Under Furniture, Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Picks up dog hair well
Cons: Loud Operation, Scratches Furniture Legs

Even though this Roomba is not "designed" specifically for pet hair, it does an amazing job. I have a Siberian Husky and we have gone through several vacuums, even ones especially for pet hair. You can never get all the hair and dirt out of the standard vacuum, but the Roomba is a 3 min clean up and it picks up 2x as much as my old vacuum. Best part is that I dont have to spend my time pushing around a heavy vacuum or carry it up and down stairs, then spend 30 min cleaning it. The Roomba does 1 floor, then I take it to the next and it just keeps going. The Roomba even tells you when the wheels need to be cleaned. My battery lasts long enough to do about 1200 sq. Ft. at a time and it charges really quickly.
Pros: Better than old vacuum, Cleans a lot of pet hair, Easy To Clean, Easy To Use, Gets in places you dont, Goes under furniture, I dont have to push it, Picks up a lot of dust, Quiet, Self Charging
Cons: Cant go under everything, Gets stuck on some things, Only has 1 charging base

when the roomba runs, it works pretty good. However, I am having maintance issues and I have only had it 3 months.I have had to fix the wheels a couple of times and as of now it still doesn't work.[...]

I loved it at first...

When I first got it I loved it and it worked great but a few months of using it a couple times a week just for those quick cleanings it started to loose suction. It isn't because it needs cleaning as I emptied the bin several times while it was cleaning and cleaned the brushes after it was all done, every time. Another thing was the fact that the little side brush started to fall off, which means it doesn't get along the edges or into the corners anymore. I was planning on buying more for other parts of the house but not anymore.
Pros: Covers Entire Room, Hassle Free Operation, Long Run Time, Pet Friendly

Ok, it has only been three days, but man does this thing do a number on pet hair. I have a golden retriever and lets just say hair is an ongoing battle. The Roomba does a great job but yes you do a lot of maintenance. I think using the robot frequently should help to cut down drastically on the amount of hair embedded in the carpet and under the furniture. So far I have come home to a clean house although the dog is not so sure about his new roommate!

New 530 Worth Every Penny

I don't think iRobot ever expected Roomba owners to use them as much as we do. We run multiple Roombas inside a larger house while a Dirt Dog cleans up sandbox sand from the back pool area. We've bought Roombas for my law office and for my wife's retail store. Owning so many Roombas - they do break now and then. However, we've run them through hundreds and hundreds of cleaning cycles. Nothing is going to last forever. However, I figured out that over the average life of the robot vacuum, it costs me about $0.25 to clean the entire house. That is completely worth it. The newest 530 is wonderful just to watch - it preemptively slows down before hitting an object. Its filter pivots out and the clear filter cover lets you check whether it even needs cleaning. Unless you have heavy shag carpet, there is little justification for not owning this product. [...]

Roomba 530

I bought a Roomba Sage at [...] in July. Loved him, but had problems. Exchanged him for another, but again had problems. It seemed like he was a little fragile. Cute, but fragile. I was skeptical that he was really cleaning properly until one time when I had been having problems with him, so I vacuumed the family room with our central vac. I thought I'd give Roomba one more try, and he ran well that time. You should have seen the dirt that I missed! That's when I decided to take unreliable Roomba back to [...], got my money back, and applied it to an upgrade [...]. Got A roomba 530. What a difference. New Roomba is not as cute. He's kind of sinister looking, but he's all business. Can handle tassles on rugs, cords, and he doesn't try to run up chair legs and walls like Roomba Sage did. He seems to sense when a wall is coming, and slows a little, then does his cleaning and moves on to the next spot. My little poodle/shi tsu/maltese mutt is slowly getting used to him. I love the dirt bin with the enclosed filter, which prevents the dirt from getting into the rest of the unit. Thanks for a wonderful product.

Better than ever!

When Rosie our Discovery "died" we were anxious to get a new one. We bought the 530 and wow what a difference! It seems to run twice as long, gets stuck on nothing, docks better and is really cool to watch as it knows to slow down before it hits your toes! It is even better than the last. Wish you had something to do stairs. Now that would be an invention!
