Bought for RV motorhome

Bought for motorhome to save space -- traveling in both desert and wooded areas requires continual cleaning. We tried it in our 3000 sq foot home in the country and were amazed at the amount of dirt/carpet fibers it picks up in one room. The virtual walls are great (we have no hallways so they're necessary). I don't recommend leaving it running while gone since it got stuck once where it hadn't before and picked up a tissue under the bed which I hadn't seen --that made a huge mess which I would have caught if I'd been home. My only complaint is that we have several old Oriental carpets with tassels --Hazel picks up little threads then deposits them. I tried turning under the tassels but she still gets them. It's fun to watch her in the RV--I could almost feel her frustration when she couldn't find her way out from in front of the passenger seat so I finally moved her. Also, she makes a great night light while in her home base in the RV. I use her in 2 or 3 rooms of the house twice every day and once every evening in the RV. The dirt bin always has more in it than I expect it to! It's very user friendly to clean and put back together. I clean it after every room in the house but only after cleaning the entire RV. Still need a regular vacuum for the house to get the baseboards and corners, but only between trips in the RV. Both house and RV have several surfaces--carpets over rugs, tile, wood or vinyl floors. No problem going from one to the other. She saves us lots of time and effort. She's much easier to use than a regular vacuum!

I've always been skeptical about its cleaning ability. "Another tool" my wife says...So it took a long time to purchase. Why didn't I get one of these a long time ago?! I've read the complaints, don't worry about how he cleans, let him do the job and in the morning my floors are clean. I run nightly in my kitchen, he has no problem cleaning and finding his way home. I dump the bin first thing to see the work completed during the night. Watch the on-line video's to understand its capabilities.

Works, but not for long

This is the second iRobot we have owned. The latest version is the 530 and it gets stuck. Also, just a few months after the warranty of 1 year its bumper sensors failed. That is expansive to replace a unit in so short a time frame. My last standard vac lasted 20 years. A year and a half is a very poor time farme.

We usually use it 2 to 3 times a week- the only hassle is cleaning bits of paper and string off of the floor. We have to do a lot of pickup before letting him loose- but that's our own issue! :) The roomba works well- better than others I've owned. It finds dirt where I had no idea there was any, and I just love emptying the bin to see what it got each time! We live in Arizona, so there is a fine coating of dust on everything just about every day- this really gets it all!

Perfect for open floor plans!

We have hard wood floors and an open floor plan of about 860sq. ft. on our 2nd floor. The roomba pet series was able to clean the entire floor on a single charge and did not get caught in any corner or under any furniture. We have 2 dogs and it picked up the pet dander and hair without a hitch. I do recommend cleaning the brush and bin after each use so that the hairs don't tangle in the brushes. We clean about 2-3 times weekly when we go to bed. It found its dock without any trouble. Don't know how well it performs on carpet, but for hardwood floors, it's ideal!!!! Great product!!!

1st Broke, 2nd broke, third fine........

The first one was the 531 and was fine until the square female connector on the robot broke off,had to bring it back to store. Next, We got the the 536 and had charging errors, docking problems, and wall following problems. When we brought it back AGAIN,I noticed that the 536 were gone with only the 531s. I guess they got sent back to be refurbished. Now we ended up with the 531 again.... Working fine. Bottom line, Cleans Great for busy homeowners. Actually, I checked off Frequent Maintenance because if it needs maintenance so fast, you know it's cleaning! So, I really Have No Cons.
