Does not Stand up Well

I am on my third kettle. Bought one 6 years ago and the hinge broke just out of warranty. I bought another one and that one lasted about two years before the contacts on the switch stopped working. I got another one (sucker for punishment I guess) and after two years this one failed the same way. The design of the switch assembly is poorly engineered. The electricity path is through the spring assembly that maintains contact pressure. When the contacts start to wear the spring ends up overheating and losing the spring. Do not buy this.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
