Truly Wonderful Product
on December 9, 2021

I bought this ice cream maker several months ago. It is a solid, heavy appliance with sleek design and user friendly interface. The pre-chill feature gets the temp down to about -20 degrees F, and it churns beautiful, creamy ice cream quickly. If you're looking for a super hard pack, you will need to transfer the finished ice cream to the freezer to get it really hard, but it comes out of the machine nicely. I am extremely well please with this investment.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love that I don't have to keep a container in my freezer
on December 28, 2020
Posted by: Jamie
I bought this machine because I have a small freezer and I didn't want to keep an ice cream container in there all the time in the event that I want to make ice cream. So I just turn on the pre-cool setting while I prep my ingredients together and its great!
I do find that sometimes after I add mix-ins, the machine seems to work slower and sometimes will even completely stop churning even though its not at the desired ice cream setting. It seems like it is just working too hard and then it just gives up. Given the price of the unit, its a bit disappointing. But it does work great when I make ice cream without any mix-ins.
Love the ice cream truck sounds at the end, too!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Ice Cream Maker I have Ever Used
on January 1, 2018
Posted by: Philip L.
I never wrote a review on any product but I was compelled to do so for the "Smart Scoop". I have been making ice cream for our use for the past 35 years. Over the years, this is our fifth maker. Started out using two different ones using the ice and salt method, them two that require the user to freeze the mixing tub, now the best of all! We purchased the "Smart Scoop" in early November. Since then we have made over a dozen batches. All of them were perfect with much better results than any other ice cream maker we have used. Having an on-board refrigeration unit makes a world of difference!! Along with that is a cycle that will keep the ice cream ready to be used up to three hours. One plus is the power plug with a hole in the middle. Great Idea!! Perfect for putting your finger into it to pull the plug when done! Would recommend that anyone than makes Ice Cream purchase the "Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream & Dessert Book" to complete the best Ice Cream Package. Been using this book for the past 30 years. Truly a Great Ice Cream Maker that is worth the price!

Ice Cream Shop at Home!
on July 27, 2019

We read an article in Sunset Magazine about The Best Ice Cream Makers, and they rated this as the BEST! We decided to splurge and couldn't be happier! We made a few of the recipes that came with it and all were good, however we have since gone VEGAN! We now make THE BEST Vegan Ice Cream with coconut milk or almond milk! It's so nice not having to deal with ice and salt like our old machine, or with having to remember to pre-freeze something that never really works! With this machine, you can decide you want yummy ice cream in an hour or so, put the ingredients in, push the button and wait for the "Ice Cream Man" song to play and ENJOY! We highly recommend this product!

Professional Homemade Ice Cream at Home!
on August 1, 2017

I was on the lookout for a new ice cream maker and did a lot of research to find a good one. After plenty of research, I had to go with this one, and boy... I'm so glad I did! The machine may be expensive, but trust me, you get what you pay for! I love how you don't have to pre-freeze any bowls that way I can make ice cream whenever I want! Plus the Pre-Cool and Keep Cool Buttons are Super Convenient! Plus the hardness dial to get the exact consistency I want! But what sold me is the ice cream truck sounds to alert you your dessert is ready! I have made several desserts in this machine, and let me tell you, the results are out of this world! If you love homemade ice cream and want professional results at home, this is the machine for you!

Easy and Efficient
on December 14, 2020

Verified Purchase:Yes
Efficient & straightforward; only suggestions are to have the “alarm” notification for adding ingredients to the mix be louder & longer in duration; also, the recipe booklet is pretty vague with instructions in certain areas.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Machine Excellent Results - Some Limitations...
on July 29, 2020
Posted by: Bigl L.
First off - well built machine highly recommended. I've heavily used this model with only a few issues. All my recipes up to now have been over a dozen variations of sorbet with the exception of a cashew butter coconut vegan "nondairy" ice cream. The machine for the most part will fill a
Tolovo 1 liter container. Some materials, specifically this evenings effort, a watermelon sorbet have a tendency to expand and overflow between the canister and machine housing causing a freeze between both elements and an inability to remove the canister from the machine. Not a big deal, but be aware some materials have higher expansion over others. I immediately after use cleaned the machine and made a 1.5 liter batch of grapefruit sorbet - slight overflow no canister stiction. The only issue - have to place finished material in freezer for a time and wait before serving. I don't consider this a deal breaker and continue to be very happy with my purchase. Buy with confidence.

Love this ice cream maker for the working mom
on November 20, 2019
Posted by: A C.
I love to experiment with cooking and food all together to provide more homemade food for my kids. However as a working mom times and opportunities for specialty technique like ice cream or gelato take time of an opportunity that does not always stay open. In traditional ice core makers you can not make the ice cream unless the bowl has been cooled in the freezer which can be an over night thing. In my life, i need to fully utilize the open time in one chunk as i may not have it the following the day. The Breville ice cream maker was a splurge that i love because i can make the mixture that day and put it in the maker about 30 min after and push a button and leave it there to do its thing. The maker is easy to use with the dials from anything to sorbet to gelato. I have made a few recipes from the book and from the internet and found no issues in receipt conversion to the maker. I have mainly used teh gelato function and the ice cream comes out rich and soft for gelato. Its not the consistency of professionally made gelato but still has a great texture that i love beyond normal ice cream. Also, the texture depends on how you cuook it and what in gradients you use which ih ave not mastered myself. Depending not eh temperature of your ice cream the Breville can take a while to make it but once it pour the mixture in you leave it. I have used the precooled function to get things going faster. The ring tone for add in is convenient as well as the maker can take more then an hour to churn the ice cream/gelato sometimes. However, in the ends it come out working great and if you are stuck doing another chore in the house ice cream maker has a cooling function to keep the ice cream cool for about 2 hours after it has been made. The icecream maker does take up continuer space and is huge. I have set in a corner that i do not use much for cooking but it is a counter space hog. Make sure t place for that. Its not really convenient to take in and out of a pantry or cabinet for use as its bulky and you would not want to break it. I like it and use it weekly to 2 a month and it all dependent on time. It also can loud to have on consistently but you learn to ignore it and move on to the other things. The attachment are pretty durable but i have has one issue with the flip toppled for ad in. it has fallen off the hinges. However, i found the prices of replacement parts to be in expensive on teh website. Other then teh lid teh rest of the attachment and cleaning suppliers work well. Overall, i love this product and am happy with the machine as it was my own gift to myself.
