Works great with my zwave home system

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought 3 of these locks for my house and have used them for about a year. Not only is the lock easy to setup and strong. The support I received when one lock didn't operate properly out of the box was impeccable.

Battery does not last. Difficult to replace.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this battery operated Kwikset SmartCode lock. I try not to use it because the battery has worn out too soon and replacing it is very difficult.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I particularly like that I can disable my alarm by simply unlocking the deadbolt. It helps to reduce false alarms.

Great Product

I purchased this device about 2 years ago. In that period of time, I can remember two instances where the numberpad was unresponsive, which forced me to use a key. Other than those two instances, the lock has been great.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Batteries only last a month. Keypad randomly stops responding. You will be resetting this thing every month and troubleshooting every other month.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Samb,
We're here to help! The batteries should last 6-12 months in the lock depending on usage. The batteries can drain due to an issue with the lock's installation, door set up, or if it's jamming. To fix this, measure the door frame jamb hole to ensure that it's at least 1 inch deep for the latch to extend fully. Check that your door is aligned properly, that the interior mounting screws are not too tight, and perform the manual door handing step below.
1. Open the door and extend the latch to the locked position.
2. Remove the battery pack.
3. Press and HOLD the LOCK button while reinserting the battery pack. Release button once the battery pack is installed.
4. The latch bolt will retract about halfway in and then extend to learn the orientation of the door.
