TOO NARROW. HATE THE FOOT PEDAL

I thought I'd like the pedal feature, but if I'm barefooted (usually), it hurts my toe everytime I mash it (after groping around for the pedal). Also, it is so narrow, that I'm constantly having to pick up trash from around it. I guess I'm not a good aim, but it shouldn't be so narrow. Overall, I wish I'd purchased something else.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

It's doesn't compare to the solid and extreme powerfulness of our 26 yer old Whirlpool we replaced. But that one sounded like a garbage truck, shook the house silly and my wife complained it packed so much garbage she couldn't lift it out. So yes, it does the job right.

This replaced a Kitchenaid trash compactor that we owned for 19 years. I love having a trash compactor and the only reason I did not give this one 5 stars was because it does not seem as 'stable" when opened or closed compared to our old one. One advantage to the this compactor is it seems to hold much more trash before it needs to be compacted! Very much satisfied with this Kitchenaid compactor!

Had to call a repairman the day it was installed

Our contractor installed this unit with a cabinet front on it. Attaching the cabinet front and getting it square with the rest of the cabinetry was a challenge due to the flimsy construction of the area the wood attaches to. Once he got it in the first time we ran it the unit started shaking violently at the end of cycle. We called out the local dealer and they covered all the repairs under warranty but it took three different part changes to get it to work properly. We are hoping it will last.
