Lever-action Lock Down

This is our second home that we installed your Trash compactor. Everything is what we expected.The only problem we are having is the "Lever-Action Lock Down" keeps coming loose causing the door to partially open after each use.

I liked my old kitchenaid compactor better, it's functional, wish it was quieter, cosmetically it looks like tin instead of stainless steel, kitchenaid is compromising quality, even the kitchenaid label does not enhance the class of this product, for the price, I expected more.

I looked long and hard for a compactor that had the "overnight" feature of compacting, leaving the ram extended for a period of time. This unit matches that need and provides outstanding compacting. Three weeks' trash before emptying.
The door has more "wobble" than other compactors we have had ... not happy with that, as it may bruise the new cabinet beside it. We may avoid this by pulling the compactor forward in its niche.

This unit was installed two months ago. Quality leaves something to be desired as it is very light weight compared to the 25 yr old Kenmore we replaced because we wanted the front to match the other appliances. Should have kept the old Kenmore until it broke. Makes too much noise when closing and we will have a service call on this unit.

I guess I didn't know how good my maytag was until I bought a kitchenaid. So look it compacts garbage, sure, and does a great job at that, if you can stand the stink long enough to keep the garbage in the house to compact it, that is! The door doesn't seal, it is loose and let's the smells and odors out; it's cheap and not the quality of expect from KA. The fan and air freshener are a joke and its noisy so you don't want to leave it run forever. I do see why they put it in being the poor design. I wanted my maytag back but they already disposed of it!
