[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This unit was installed two months ago. Quality leaves something to be desired as it is very light weight compared to the 25 yr old Kenmore we replaced because we wanted the front to match the other appliances. Should have kept the old Kenmore until it broke. Makes too much noise when closing and we will have a service call on this unit.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I liked my old kitchenaid compactor better, it's functional, wish it was quieter, cosmetically it looks like tin instead of stainless steel, kitchenaid is compromising quality, even the kitchenaid label does not enhance the class of this product, for the price, I expected more.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The trash compactor was dead on arrival. The place we bought it from said, we could not return it until we had someone come out and try to fix. First, of all I feel when you pay a lot of money for something that you have to just deal with it. I was shocked that we could not return this item being that it was dead when we got it. I have had a kitchen aid in the past and I loved it. It was made very well. This one is junk! It has cardboard on the sides of unit instead of metal. You can tell its not made like they use to make them. We would never buy another kitchen aid product.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had an existing KithcenAid compactor for 22 years and worked great with no service calls, expect solid pack stopped working several years ago. Wife wanted stainless instead of white and purchased this unit to replace. Mechanics of units are basically identical. Old unit very easy to remove. Had to adjust wheels and height to give best installation. Then just slip into existing space. Very easy to do and unit is working fine. I would recommend this unit and hope I get the same service as I did from the original unit.
