We got our first one when we remodeled our kitchen 5 yrs ago and needed a built-in with these specific dimensions. It lasted about 2 years when the door switch/button broke. The 2nd one lasted until last night when the door switch broke again. Unfortunately we can't seem to find a different brand with these dimensions.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Peeling interior paint

We love how this unit functions and looks but were distressed to discover the interior ceiling paint of the unit is peeling. GE's FAQ's indicate there is no repair possible and the unit must be replaced. We love the microwave and are disappointed that GE's solution to the problem is to load up a landfill with a functioning product.

Door failure.

I've successfully used this microwave over the past 6 years. When I bought the house the previous owners had just redone the kitchen and had a replacement control panel (just in case). Well, it seems the time may have come to use it. It could be that the door opening plastic piece broke or some other switch related. It is a cabinet install with trim kit. The problem is the documents show how to install the trim kit with the door open. How can I remove the trim kit if I can't open the door?

This microwave is disgusting. From the very beginning of use paint chips fall off the interior. I see others had same problem. There should have been a recall and money back.

I don't know how to replace the door as a hole find inside the inner door and will that be safe to use, microwave set inside the cabinet, will that be possible have someone can take care of it?

LOOKING FOR SAME SIZE AND DOES NOT EXIST!!!!

I had a built in cabinet made for this model and now it seems GE no longer makes this model and its replacement is a different size, DO NOT BUY, the size is not standard and now i am stuck with a hole and no microwave! I loved it and it lasted about 10 years but now I have to remodel the kitchen to fit the microwave.
