Device of the year...

The Galaxy Note 2 has converted me to a loyal Samsung customer after a decade of loyalty of to a company that no longer makes any "sense" to me.
I scoffed at those that dove in to the original Note, however, after seeing firsthand the features the Note 2 was loaded down with & experiencing the amazing performance, I became a believer
There are dozens of useful features on the Note 2 & a dozen more you won't use regularly, but when you do use them, you are guaranteed to exclaim loudly, "WOW!". The multi-view feature is really neat, but the Multi-window feature is super useful & saves me time when I am sending emails that require me to view reference materials or documents. No more guessing, no more switching back & forth between screens & no more waiting until I can get to a laptop or PC.
The S-Pen is an awesome retro-like tool that I did not miss from my old smartphone days, until I saw it in action & realized that it was the stylus reborn & re-imagined with great functionality. Hand written notes that are pressure sensitive, precise clippings from documents & web pages or articles are all just a gesture away from being shared via a plethora of communication mediums.
The only down side to this device is that the well documented Android OS/System bug was not patched, but even with the battery draining bug, you still get over 24 hours of use. I can't wait until this issue is patched, trhis thing will be a buttery smooth experience that lasts for 3 days minimum for me.
There is no better device on the market & while it won't replace a tablet or laptop for me, it definitely is the beast option to get you buy when you are between those devices.
I am a mechanical engineering professional & this is a powerful tool that makes me more productive & makes me shine in front of clients.
Did I also mention the other half of this thing? Multimedia! Samsung does things right in regards to supporting numerous formats & codecs. I can watch near Bluray quality movies on this thing, complete with AC3 surround sound thanks to the DIVX certification. So many music formats are supported, so many video containers & formats are supported & you can watch them via AllShare Cast on your laptop, tablet or even your compatible TV. You have an older TV? No problem, the AllShare Hub will turn your old TV into media sharing monster.
You owe it to yourself to give this thing a whirl! Like me, you might just find yourself impressed & owning what you swore you'd never buy!
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, large screen, ultra-customizeable, multi-window, advanced led display, feature packed, super thin, powerful hardware, fast & responsive
Cons: jelly bean battery bug, expensive, thin plastic back cover
I would recommend this to a friend!

From A Tech Moron
on February 27, 2013

I have always been slow to adopt new technology. I never had a pda. I waited until 'the cloud' came along and my email, contacts and calendar could follow me on my computers. In similar one-size-fits-all fashion, I bought my Note ll. Finally, I can write notes, make phone calls, text, e-mail, watch video on a decent-sized screen, listen to podcasts and music---all from the same device. Simple, even for a tech moron. Thanks!
Pros: all in one

Great Device

I call it a device as it is definitely not "just" a phone, it is a full-fledged computing platform. This is a great platform for mobile computing. the screen is large enough to watch movies and work on spreadsheets as well as surf the web. The battery life is reasonable and it has tons of features. Samsung has thought out the product well, making it light weight but not flimsy. The layout of the buttons and ports make it usable without getting in the way. I actually enjoy this device more than any other cell phone/PDA/tablet/smartphone I have ever tried. I would recommend this to everyone.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Lightweight

As with all your products, I love this phone! It is a cut above the competitors.
I was considering a tablet, and didn't want to have to pack around a tablet and a phone...so the NOTE 2 answered that problem quite nicely.
And, as many baby boomers, my eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be and I like the bigger screen for viewing and reading. I set the font to large. And I think using the volume key to increase/decrease font size in messaging is genius. I wish it worked with other apps. But, in the messaging it's great.
I also use the 3M Cloud library app to read books, and this phone makes that very doable. I love the feature that uses facial scanning to know whether you are focusing on the phone or not to decide whether to sleep or not. Also, the feature that takes into account the orientation of your face to decide whether to rotate the screen or not. Awesome!
The S Pen is great, too. Again, Genius! I love that it docks securely in the phone. I had bought two extras, fearing that I would lose the original. But, it's so secure, I probably will never need to unpackage the others I bought.
Samsung absolutely has the best "extra" little features that put all its products over the top. No wonder their major cell phone competitor is suing and trying to stymie them. Samsung out does them on every front. Now if they just had an app so my Note II would make a cup of espresso....
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, human intuitive features, won't need a tablet!, fantastic value
Cons: doesn't make espresso ;)

I am a huge tech junkie and have had more phones than I care to count. With that being said, I have probably had this one the longest and plan on keeping it for a long while. I love everything about the device other than the fact I am on Verizon and they hack everything.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, Lightweight

Awesome Phone/Tablet

I replaced my venerable IPhone 4 with the Samsung Galaxy Note and I never looked back. Admittedly, it took a little getting used to but I bought it primarily for the S-Pen, the larger screen real estate and multi-screen capability. Once I got over thinking it should be like my Iphone I really came to appreciate the quality, screen size, available apps and total overall functionality.
I added a 16 gig micro SD for more storage and easily moved all my music and videos from my IPhone and Ipad to my Galaxy Note II.
This is an awesome device. I can take notes at meetings, write - yes write emails, work on reports, take pictures, watch movies, and play my music. The sound streams to my hearing aids to it works almost totally hands free.
It's a good size for a person with big hands (I do) that has a tendency to reach for their phone before they boot up their laptop. (Me again.) Drawbacks? None that I've experienced.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Durable, Realistic color, good size for a big person

Great Idea...

I purchased the Note 2 a little more than a week ago and I have to say I love it! I use the stylus almost every time Im on the phone. It makes browsing easier, no more clicking the wrong link 6 different times. The device is really intuitive and syncs many many accounts almost automatically. Battery life is wonderful. I have been playing hard on the phone and it still lasts ALL DAY. Seriously, off the charger at 7 am and at 8-9 I am in the yellow. That is with above average use. The second day I had it, I stopped receiving notification when a text arrived. No vib, no ringtone, no number 1 on the messages app. Took it back to At&t and they determined that it was a faulty sim card. Twice now, I have turned the screen on and the widgets are missing. A quick reboot fixed it but a little annoying. Camera is amazing. Web browsing is no longer annoying. The UI is really cool. Lots of features and animations that are aesthetically pleasing. The only gripe about the size is that it isnt the best for one handed operation. With that said, the phone fits fine in my pocket as I never carry keys or anything else in the same pocket as the phone to prevent scratches. Fits fine in any pair of pants that I wear.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, exceeds many expectations
Cons: faulty hardware-may be isolated incident
I would recommend this to a friend!
