Great Starting Camera

I have used this camera for almost 2 years now and really like it. I has great functions and takes excellent pictures. My favorite feature is the super macro as I take some very delicate pictures of flowers. Works great on long range work as well. Would recommend a tripod if shooting long range as the autofocus readjusts frequently when zooming. For someone just starting and not wanting to spend alot on an SLR this is a best buy to start with. Only downfall is the weak flash. You will want to invest in an external flash. I like the Canon 430 EX. Works well with the camera in all modes and when you are ready to move to an SLR can move with you.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: weak flash

I was searching for just the right camera - one that was in my price range and the closest I could get to an SLR without paying for an SLR. This one is amazing! I LOVE this camera!!! It takes great photos - very clear and clean. It's very easy to use, and can be used without reading the guide. For better pictures, read the guide. =0)
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, good battery life, durable
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, does not have a charger nor rechargable battery
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have had this camera for a couple of years. Everyone is amazed at the pictures. It would be hard to give this camera up for a dslr as the features are so good and easy to use and you don't need a large bag to support it! Others have stated the strong points well but one thing I must recommend and the main reason for writing this review is, buy a speed light! An external flash makes the best improvement to the photos of anything else you can do. Your pictures will jump off the page after this addition!
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

I love this camera! And I just keep discovering more to love! I started using it to take snapshots of all my memories, from friends and fam to close up nature shots so awesome I could see the individual hairs on a bees legs!!! Recently, I've discovered the manual settings work just as awesome as the auto stuff. and I'm a photog student and pramatuer. PLUS! You can also get wide angle and tele converter lens for this baby! LOVE LOVE LOVE it. Image quality, fantastic!!! Can't take a bad shot no matter what I do!!! Only reason for the 4-star in satisfaction is that the lens cap won't stay on. Hopefully they'll fix that in the next version.

The only thing this camera is missing is either a raw or TIFF format. The high format is good but raw or TIFF would be better
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, portable, good battery life
Cons: Missing features/settings, only jpeg compression

I asked for this camera for a Christmas/Birthday present and took it to Africa on its maiden voyage last summer. It was truly amazing how I could get such clear pictures of animals so far away. In addition to the excellent image quality and zoom, the camera was durable enough to handle riding around in safari vehicles through desert and savanna and coastlines and never had any damage. I really appreciated that it uses AA batteries when my recharghable ones died and I had to buy AA batteries at a bushcamp. Awesome camera!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, durable

I upgraded from an S2 that I loved. I actually like this S5 better than my SLR. It's far quicker to get those snapshots with nearly the same quality, with nearly the same features.
The only thing I didn't like was that in continuous shooting mode, my friend's Panasonic Lumix had a much much faster frame per second and much better zoom.
So this may not be the best camera for shooting sports with, but it takes remarkable pictures and video.
Pros: easy to use, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, good battery life, durable, you don't find features on an p&s camera
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, fps rate is pretty low.

If your looking to buy a really good camera but you dont want to spend the money on those SLR's, this is your camera. Look no further. This thing has all the options and then some. Those expensive SLR camera do not do half the things this baby does. if you buy this camera make sure to purchase the 8GB Sd Card so you have plenty room for your videos and high resolution shots. Also buy the re-chargable batteries. Good luck
Pros: good battery life, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, easy to use
Cons: some difficulty focusing on certain objects
