Excellent Point and Shoot Camera
on February 9, 2009
Posted by: Anonymous
The S5 is a great point and shoot camera, with a picture quality that definitely surpasses the pocket sized Power Shots.
The hot shoe is a great feature, which unfortunately is necessary because of the camera's very poor performance in low-to-medium light.
The only other downside, is that the S5 is limited in terms of its ability to control depth of field. If depth of field is important to you, buy a SLR with a good quality lens.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, good battery life, hot shoe
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, limited depth of field
I would recommend this to a friend!

Brings the subject to you!

When you can't physically get close to your subject, the 12x Optical zoom can get you close. This camera does all I need without having to pay more and carry many lenses as I would with a Digital SLR. I would like it even more if it had a RAW mode and a good lenscap retention system(the lens motor needs a feedback system so it auto retracts if something is blocking the lens as it extends).
Cons: Missing features/settings, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life, no filter ring without adapter, no raw, sometimes slow autofocus
I would recommend this to a friend!

Unrivaled Composition

The two standout features of the S-series are the flip-out screen and Image stabilization . Together they allow far greater range of composition because I can hold the camera away from my eyes at almost any angle and still see what my picture will look like
Pros: easy to use, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy to Use

I found that this camera was easy to use right out of the box. It only took me a few minutes to figure out the basics and I was off taking good quality pictures. It is also easy for my kids to use which makes it a fun camera to own. I like the fact that my big hands have something to hold on to is realy nice. I am still learning how to use all the features but that is what makes it fun.
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, i don't like the lens cap
I would recommend this to a friend!
