Excellent stovetop, but glass scratches!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The performance of this GE Profile PP945BM stovetop is excellent. It replaced a GE stovetop which had failed after 13 years (and two owners). The PT945BM heats quickly. The controls are self-evident (except the "hot" indicators - see below), and disabling the controls for cleaning is easy to accomplish.
The "Hot" indicators, rather than being near the burner, or near the controls for a burner, are in a lower corner. Because there is no etching in this corner, it is difficult to determine with a quick look which burner is hot. (There are 4 small indicators whose red LEDs illuminate when the burner is hot.) Because the other indicators are not evident below the black cooktop, all one sees is a red LED indicating that a burner is hot. It is not evident which of the 4 indicators is illuminated if only one burner is hot.
There is not a heating element between the burners, so a long griddle cannot be used. We consider this a minor inconvenience, since our (rather expensive) griddle does not sit flat on a glass cooktop, and cannot be used on any stove without open burners.
Now to the glass. We have owned other top brands of glass top stoves before, and had no issue with scratching. This GE Profile stovetop has minor scratches after a few months' use. We are gentle with our cooktops, and I can find no reason why the glass should scratch. The scratches are not major, and do not, I believe, threaten the integrity of the cooktop. They are merely a minor flaw in an otherwise truly excellent product. This is the only reason for 4 stars, rather than 5.
All-in-all, we are very satisfied with the product, and would purchase it again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Purchased this product for a cooktop replacement with a new granite countertop. It works and looks great. Disappointed that the 'control box' under the unit is so deep that one of two drawers under cooktop needed to be cut down to nearly half the size and the second drawer needed a notch-out on the rear corner because of the electricial connection. When most products are made smaller nowadays, it's frustrating that the two previous cooktops fit over the drawers...........maybe more design work.........

I have been using this cooktop for about 6 months. I am not a gourmet chef but It has drawn me to cook more! It is easy to operate and works well with the telescopic downdraft that I paired with it. I really like the lock option.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and went with this cooktop for it's sleek looks and size requirement for our space. As with out old stove, I find it a bit challenging to keep the burners clean and new looking, as food splatters end up everywhere necessitating a full cooktop cleaning experience virtually every time we use it. However, I think that the cooking elements do a great job. I love the 3 size options for the front right burner as well as the quick boil feature. I also love the lack of knobs and the ability to lock the burners easily to protect small hands/fingers from turning on the stove accidentally. It's also a great feature that facilitates cleaning. Over all, I think this was a great purchase for us and would recommend.

Our new GE Cooktop is Fantastic ~ Not only does it have a consistent cooking; but, it also gets HOT really fast. It boils water in no time flat. Clean up is simple & so so easy ~ & I LOVE LOVE LOVE that I am able to lock the top. So happy I bought this stunning, yet wonderful cooktop.
