Expandable cooking elements, poor instructions

My wife loves the expandable cooking elements, especially the 6"/9"/12" tri-ring element. However, the directions to install the cooktop, replacing an existing cooktop were incorrect and caused significant frustration. The website advised to purchase the cutout filler trim kit, as the previous cooktop was marginally larger than the GE unit. The instructions in kit stated to reduce opening to 28-1/2 x 19-1/2. When I went to place the new GE unit into the space, it wouldn't fit. The instructions for a new installation stated 28-1/2 x 19-5/8! Surprise! There were several screws on the sides of the cooktop bottom, with heads that stuck out. The actual width was closer to 19-3/4. Needless to say, I was not happy. Please make your instructions consistent.

We bought this when we did our remodel and glad we did. It has worked flawlessly for the last 5 months. Heats up much faster than our old Jenn-Air and is much easier to clean, however you do have keep on top of the cleaning.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This unit replaced our same model cook top that burner stopped working after 7+ years.
This same model that was installed does not have a time as our older model had.

I am 100% in love with my new cook top. The ability to adjust the heating elements to fit my pots is absolutely wonderful. No excess heat on the outside of the pans. It was easy to install and the instructions were spot on. Thanks GE

Outstanding performance and easy cleanup

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this product for 1 month and can't be quite about how pleased I am about the performance, looks and easy cleanup. The power boil works as advertized and the three ring burner is very helpful an positioned well. The lock process is great for saftey and cleaning and the ease of operation is a great plus for my family. I would recommend this 30 inch or the 36 inch (if I had an easy way to install in the granite counter. Thanks for the peace of mind that this product gives. Oh by the way dont have heavy objects stored above that can fall onto the cooktop as it is glass and will be expensive to replace.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this cooktop to replace my old GE electric cooktop.When I needed to replace my cooktop I would only cinsider GE, I moved into my condo 12 years ago, there were GE appliances in the kitchen, whenever I had any problem with the dishwasher, Refrigerator, Cooktop oven, I just called GE and a repairman would be here by the next day. The reapr service is outstanding, I would not consider any other appliance company.
