Handle With Care

My employer provided this camera to me for my job, and I use it on a daily basis. It works great for a couple months than it starts to malfunction. It takes good pictures in daylight and as long as your in a well lit room at night. Unfortunately the shutter and lens started malfunctioning after a couple months, and I 'd have to replace them every 3-4 months.Another thing I was constantly changing was the batteries. They only lasted for a couple days. With some improvements it could be a really nice camera. Until that happens though, I suggest handling with extreme care.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Survives at 100,000 Feet

Used as an engineering project for The University of Massachusetts. Perfect. Awesome. Too good to be true. We literally sent this camera attached to a ballon (with modifications as well as some 'engineering' to get the job "properly" done) to an estimated 100 thousand feet PLUS, achieving the distance from Amherst Mass, to the shore of New Hampshire, landing in the Atlantic Ocean towards the coast. Found it four days later after a phone call, got all the pictures even after it landed in the ocean. Memory card survived.
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, excellent image quality, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, durable

short life

The camera worked very well, until the last time used. When I went to turn it on, it would not do so. I checked all three batteries and it still would not work. I took it to a store that serviced cameras and the clerk said, '"the caners could not be fixed, that they had a problem with Cannon doing this.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Dim LCD, Complicated controls/menu, Flimsy Construction, quits in one year
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hate this camera
on April 12, 2009

I hate this camera. It runs out of batteries constantly. I have replaced them twice in two days! I can't take any pictures indoors because they don't turn out - no matter what setting it is on! The automatic setting turns my outdoor photos dark, so dark you can't see them. I never know if the automatic setting is going to work or if it will turn them dark so it is very hard to know what to use and when!
Pros: easy to use, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Poor image quality, Poor Low-Light Performance, Short battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love Canon - HATE this model !!

We have owed many Canon cameras including the A40, Rebel EOS (35mm film), Digital Rebel XTi, A75, A95 and this camera - the A560. I love all my Canon cameras EXCEPT the A560. The A560 is by far the worst camera I've ever owned. The battery life is about ten pictures or three days, which ever comes first. Then you'll get the low battery warning. No matter what brand of batteries you purchase they won't last long in this camera. We only use this camera in an emergency and always tape new batteries to it when not in use. This camera is a waste of money. Unfortunately, we recommended this model to two other folks, one family member and one close friend. Now all three of us hate this camera. Fortunately, for us anyway, we have several other (Canon) cameras to use.

Good value, handy and fun to use

Overall very satisfied. Battery life was poor on standard AA's, but after using Lithiums, the life went way up, probably 200 plus photos per battery change. Did have to send to repair center for len/shutter replacement. Canon repair center is a dream to work with. Very precise, quick replies, so although service was needed, it was painless. Again, fun to use, quickly changes settings. Maybe recovery after a photo with flash was a little slow, and seems to happen only when batteries were winding down. Satisfied user who wouldn't be without my little side kick A560 whenever out and about!!!
Pros: easy to use, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Good Low-Light Performance, Lightweight/Portable
I would recommend this to a friend!
