Great looking stoetop and it performs well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love the temperature controls. There's lots of flexibilty with them. I also like the size of the burners.
We needed the 30" top for the space we required when we remodeled and this fit the bill perfectly. We also have had GE products previously and been very pleased with them.

All around great cooktop

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am new to this type of cooktop as I am used to the old style coil rangetops. I am a man that is a single parent and use the cooktop often. The low profile is very nice and attractive. The locking feature keeps it safe from little prying and exploring hands - great for when the grandchild comes by. The lights even let you know when it's safe to touch after using the cooktop. It does a great job of cooking evenly. Great cooktop, great value and great price.

3 weeks and one side is not working!

I got this a few months ago as an open box return. It replaced a 30 year old coil stove so anything was bound to be an improvement. After using it for a couple of months I'm happy with the performance of the stove. The burners heat evenly and quickly.
Here are my concerns with owning this:
1. The knobs are plastic. Even the fitting that connects the knob to the stove is plastic. They're fine right now but I envision them breaking at some point. The Profile series is supposed to be their upper end line. I would expect better knobs.
2. I don't like the knobs taking up the whole right side of the stove. They take up too much real estate. It would be better if they were grouped close together in the bottom right corner or bottom middle of the cook top. I have already had problems using both front burners at the same time because the burners are so close together. With a different knob placement I feel like the burners could have been arranged to prevent this problem.
These concerns are not specific to this model but when thinking about whether you want to go gas or electric keep these in mind.
1. It is hard to keep glass tops clean. This is not specific to this model or GE. Any glass top stove will show smears and splatters.
2. I worry about scratching it. I'm hesitant to shake a pan while cooking because I don't want to scratch it. Same thing, this is not a model specific flaw.
3. The glass stays hot long after turning the burners off. It retains heat much like a cast iron skillet does.

Bought this cook-top as a replacement for another GE cook-top that was about 16 years old. The burners on this one heat up much more rapidly and in general I have needed to learn to cook at lower temperatures. The bridge burner is very handy when using a griddle. I am a clean freak and this top is harder to keep spotless than I thought it would be. I am constantly using the special ceramic cleaners on it. If you have any dish rags with any nylon in them or other fabric besides pure cotton get rid of them before anyone in your household gets them in contact with this type of cook-top when hot or warm as the fabric can melt on the cook-top and you WILL NOT get it 100% off of the surface. Also make sure your cookware is smooth and free of any imperfections that might scratch the glass surface.

Great Stove

It's a great stove top. I like the child safety lock it has so little fingers can't accidentally turn the stove on. When you've got toddlers, you can't be too careful.
