Too Small for old eyes
on November 23, 2010

Very hard to read the marking for different settings on the led face. Hard to tell what settings are unless looking under high light. Other than that it's a great unit, especially for the price.
What's great about it: Great for the price
What's not so great: Marking for setting too small
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best basic portable cd player on earth !
on August 30, 2010

Very attractive cd player. I like to just hold mine and look at it play. If anyone is looking for a basic player, no radio, no mp3cd. This is it. HANDS DOWN !
What's great about it: Design,Color.Performance, and Resume Play where last stopped. A priceless feature.
What's not so great: A Little greedy for juice. But what isn`t. Good outweighs Bad here.
I would recommend this to a friend!

SONY WALKMAN CD PLAYER D-EJ011 REVIEW
on June 20, 2011
Posted by: Computerhobbyist
Off the charts studio sound quality, digital Mega Bass sound system, sturdy build quality, attractive appearance, shuffle, repeat, and bookmark program play modes. Just another excellent product from Sony. The Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD Player is without question the absolute best single function portable CD player that Sony offers. The Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD Player offers an extensive feature set. Those features include a 1-bit D/A converter for awesome sound, 3.5mm headphone output jack, skip-free electronic shock protection, digital volume control, LCD display, battery level indicator, automatic shut-off, hold switch, CD-R/RW playback, play, pause, stop, forward skip, and reverse skip CD transport controls. The Sony Walkman CD Player also utilizes a user selectable Automatic Volume Limiter System (AVLS) volume distortion reduction system. All of my CD’s sound wonderful on this portable with clear vocals, and well defined bass performance. I have not been able to make this Sony CD player skip during playback under any circumstances, with the shock protection enabled or disabled. This Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD player is a great companion for the morning jog, long walks, trips to the beach, late night at home private listening sessions, or when you’re sitting poolside taking a sip from that refreshing cool glass of iced tea. Please remember that in order to achieve audiophile quality sound reproduction from this unit, you should disable the electronic shock protection system during non-active use. The supplied ear-clip headphones offer very decent sound quality. However, the audio playback of this unit can be improved upon in my experience with an upgrade to the Sony Extra Bass MDR-XB500 headphones. The Extra Bass headphones produce copious amounts of detailed dynamic bass when combined with the playback accuracy of the Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD Player. The Sony Walkman CD Player is powered by 2 AA batteries or it can be powered with an optional AC-E45A AC power adapter. Customers should be aware that the Sony D-EJ011 Walkman CD player does not offer an FM/AM tuner, MP3 CD playback, or remote controller. Good Luck. Enjoy.
What's great about it: Excellent CD Playback, Solid Build Quality
What's not so great: No FM/AM Tuner
I would recommend this to a friend!

what happened to quality?

About 7 years ago, I bought an amazingly
made sony cd player, that I actually still have.
These that they sell now are worthless. I have
bought 4, and of the 4, 3 do not work. Buy them
at your own risk. Sony is not a high quality
company any longer. They are like everyone
else, cheap.
What's great about it: have none
What's not so great: very poorly made
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

CD Walkman D FJ041
on January 26, 2014

This is my second Sony Walkman CD player (with radio) and I do not like this model. It is already on the blink after only a year. It is harder to replace the batteries and manipulate the buttons than the earlier version, which lasted about eight years. I use these a lot and doubt I will buy another Sony since the quality and ingenuity seem to keep going down.

Impossible to work with. I miss the old ones

This player is probably fine for people who listen to music cd's and they don't care about moving forward or back on the tracks. The sound is fine. I listen to books on tape and the little buttons on the side are lined up linearly so you never know if you're pushing the volume or skipping to the next track or turning it on and off. And the teeny tiny little screen is almost impossible to read. I hate this thing and long for the days when I could listen to my books in the dark and just feel for the right buttons. It's no surprise that used Sony Walkmans are selling for hundreds of dollars. I bought this one because I have no choice.

I bought this to keep a historical piece of nostalgia in my life and to show future generations. It works great and plays great.

I love my Sony Walkman. I listen to audio books on it all the time--walking, doing housework, cooking. I have had several because I've dropped them too often or just worn them out. A couple of times when I needed a replacement, I couldn't find the Sony Walkman so I tried other brands, and I just wasted my money. The Sony works upside down or sideways, doesn't skip if even if you do.
My only complaint is that it has nothing built-in to carry it. If you call it a Walkman, it's meant to be portable. Yet the only way to carry it around is in your hands or in a really big pocket.
Oh, and I don't use the headphones that come with it--too big and clunky. I use a lightweight Sony headphone, that I think they've stopped making.
