Best CD Walkman I have ever used!

Best CD Walkman I have ever used. I listen to audiobooks while running on a treadmill and the CD Walkman never skips and the sound quality is great!
Love the function that remembers what track you were on. Turn it off, and when you turn it back on you are right back to where you left off...priceless!
What's great about it: Great sound quality, never skips
What's not so great: Uses up batteries pretty fast

It has resume

I was glad to find this product had resume since I bought it for books on tape. You hit stop and the power goes off. You hit play and it's right back were you left off.
What's great about it: Good battery life, good sound
What's not so great: none

Very satisfied

This player works great. After trying the players that are still available in stores and getting frustrated with all the stop/start of poor skip protection this player is a welcome relief. I listen to recorded books and hope players will still be available for some time to come even if they are becoming obsolete for music. This is one of the best I've used. The battery compartment is a little difficult because of its placement inside but I wouldn't trade it off for lesser performance. I recommended it to a friend and now she has one too!

Great little cd player

Be sure to use the Sound Enhancement "1" setting for full-range sound. With no sound setting selected the music is thin and weak, probably to extend the battery life. I pair the player with Sony's MDR-SA1000 and the Sound "2" setting and the playback is amazing. For $30 you can't go wrong. Get one before Sony discontinues portable CD players!

Perfect for recorded books

If you listen to recorded books on CD you know how frustrating it is when you have to stop the CD or if the batteries die. When you start up again, almost all CD players start from track #1. This unit will remember EXACTLY where it was when stopped and resume from that point. Even if you remove the disc, remove and replace the batteries and replace the disc. It starts again from the precise point where you left off. INVALUABLE FEATURE.
What's great about it: Remembers settings
What's not so great: No belt clip

Great player, no wall power supply

The cd player works very well, no wait time on the anti skip protection, and sounds like I expect from Sony.
The cons are pretty major though. The battery location is about as bad as it could possibly be. You have to open the case, remove the disc, and then fuss with the batteries from underneath the lid. There's no pull out ribbon, and the outside battery can be very difficult to remove.
A good solution to this would be to not use the batteries, but the device does not come with an ac or dc adapter, so out of the box you're forced to use this ridiculous battery location. It also appears that Sony does not make those adapters, or at the best they're not listed as accessories and are difficult to find (haven't been able to so far).
The LCD display is on the side of the player, which in itself isn't an issue, but it's very small, and extremely difficult to read it if there are low-light situations.
Wish this would have had a bit more thought into it's functionality and been properly designed for actual use.
What's great about it: reliable, great sound
What's not so great: battery location, no power adapter and small lcd

Pleasantly surprised

My wife listens to recorded books all the time. When her old portable CD player broke I searched the web for a good deal on a quality replacement. I read good reviews about this model and one of them directed me to the SONY site. To my surprise it was indeed the best price I could find, ordering was easy and the player showed up the next day! My wife seems very happy with the product and I'm more than happy with the whole experience.
