Easy operation

What a great lock, one button to lock and no keys. I espically like the colored LED's to indicate locked or unlocked status.

We always use the garage door opener to get in the house. We came home during a rainstorm and the power was out and we didn't have keys. No problem. Just enter the code and the door is open. Glad we had this lock so we wouldn't have to wait for power in the rain.

A clever idea!

For our thirtieth wedding anniversary, my wife and I rented a cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains. I thought it was an clever idea that its door had an electronic lock; instead of a key, all we needed to know was the code. (The owners were able to easily change the code after each tenant left.) As soon as we returned home, I bought a Kwikset lock for our front door. Six years later it is still working great and I am still impressed with it.

I purchased one lock 8 months ago. The installation was somewhat complicated due to a need to remove the metal security plate on the door frame, re-drill the holes for that and replace in order to get the deadbolt to properly seat in the door jam. It then worked great...till now. It has stopped working entirely though the batteries are new and the red light is still lit.
Following the install of the first lock, I bought a second one for the door going from garage to laundry room. It was incorrectly assembled so the locking knob was upside down, rotating from 7 o'clock to 3 o'clock, instead of 9 o'clock to 1 o'clock. Rather than return it, I elected to live with it since it installed very easily and otherwise worked perfectly...and still does.
I love this lock. I had previously developed the habit of always locking the door when entering or leaving, but my wife did not. Reminding her was not working so this was a great solution. We have both locks set to automatically lock after 30 (?) seconds and it was no longer necessary to carry a key. These increased our home security immensely.
Now I will find out if Kwikset will honor their lifetime warranty. It is a pain to remove and return the lock but I like it well enough to make that effort. If they will not replace, then I will lower my rating to two stars or less. An inoperative lock is worse than the old deadbolt.

Bought our first digital dead bolt and love not having to keep up with a key. Have changed all of our locks to digital.

Great for the Kids!

I have purchased two of the 909 SmartCode Electronic Deadbolt locks for my home. I had issues with the grandchildren losing or forgetting their keys so I put these in. They work like a dream and I chose a number that is easy for them to remember (i.e. - their birthday) and I can very easily change the code if I choose. The locks are very secure. I also had some issues with the locks not closing properly but I contacted Kwikset and they told me how to fix my problem. Very easy and they were great to work with. I believe I may even get a lock like this for my kids house as a gift.

I bought this 4 months ago, after I locked myself out of the house, with my keys 2 hours away. I use it daily and it is always flawless and easy to use. Really great for when I have guests because I can just give them a code and they can come and go as needed, without me being home. The back part is plastic that feels a little cheap, but it's held up well so far. Aside, from that, I really can't fault this lock for anything. Can't recommend it enough.
