I bought this about a year ago, lately it's been eating batteries about every week. I just replaced the batteries again, and it won't respond. It was great while it worked, I just totally lost all confidence in this product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

POOR QUALITY OF BATTERY ENCASEMENT

The Battery encasement has deteriorated -- the end where the springs are (Negative Battery end) has detached itself from two of the four battery encasements. I cannot find anywhere that a replacement Battery encasement can be purchased,

bought this for my new condo. perfect function for dog walking, guests, and just because. I love not having to carry around keys. it's very convenient to have family and friends come in while i'm at work or running late. I change the code to accomodate guests so they don't have to remember my code and can just use the last 4 of their cell numbers. I have at least 2 codes available at all times.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Easy To Use

Added this deadbolt to my ADT Pulse home security system. It was especially easy to replace an existing Kwikset deadbolt already in my door. And it rekeyed to my existing keys and other locks easily and quickly. Then pairing it to the Pulse system was again very easy. The only drawback to the Pulse system is that the deadbolt can't be programmed with as many codes as other systems allow. But stii, it's been an outstanding product. I did have a minor issue and the customer service from Kwikset was as good as Amazon or Nordstrom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Motor Stopped Functioning 5 months after purchasin

I have had the Kwikset lock in place for 5 months and it always seemed to have a hard time locking and unlocking. I took the lock apart and repositioned the deadbolt multiple times and never could get a clean locking and unlocking. As of now, 5 months after purchase, the motor makes the noise that its unlocking the door but doesn't do anything even with the lock out of the door and free of any friction. I wish I could just get this thing replaced.

Great Kwikset warranty service!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had a problem with the torque shaft gear on a 7-9 year old 909 deadbolt elec. lock and Kwikset support helped me via online chat to identify the issue and sent me a whole new replacement 909 deadbolt lock. I am very impressed with this company readily honoring their mechanical warranty and freely shipping a brand new item to me in a reasonable timeframe. I easily installed the new 909 and am very happy with how this product works and looks good. Note: I can see that the new model includes small improvements over the older model which tells me Kwikset is earnest about making things better for users.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Nice finish and great security!

I own two of these units, one for house and other on garage. House unit is used half as much as garage unit, and both units have held up well in over three years of use. Garage batteries will last about 6months(4 AA's) and house bout a year. We also oil/lubricate deadbolt pin bout twice a year, to reduce wear from moisture/rust. These are the first time we have owned them and are impressed by ease of use and ability to change code quickly. Also had to contact kwikset customer service and they were excellent with my inquiry, unlike most companies you deal with today. Would recommend these to anyone needin good security and ease of use.
