made a major positive difference

While I have an earlier model than this platinum, I did not expect it would make the difference it made in my teeth. I had trouble with my teeth all my life and I was terrified of the dentist even the cleanings. I always felt I needed a vallum just to enter the dentist office for anything even cleaning. I started having gum problems also and that made cleaning more of a nightmare. I finally got the sonic system from my dentist and used it. I like it ok but this past cleaning I saw the real difference. When the hygenist went to get the plaque off my teeth she only found two little specks and the rest was refreshing. I could not believe the difference it made and I have no gum problem anymore and I don't brush twice a day even but it made the difference. I wish I could afford to give every child born a unit so they would never have to know the horrible nightmare I have lived with a dentist office visit. I am 65yrs and I just bought my mother one she is 81 yrs and I plan to buy my 8 year old grandson one. Kids don't like to brush their teeth but this will work even if they are not good at it. I enjoy it more now that I am not afrid of the dentist. Thanks Sonic
This is an amazing toothbrush, 3 settings -clean,polish/white/ and gums. Your teeth will feel as if you've just left the dentist office after a cleaning. This toothbrush gets coffee stains off,....before I always had to go to the dentist office to get those stains off. I had an old model, (6 years old) and it in no way can compare to this new improved model. You won't be sorry, may seem a little expensive, but it's definitely worth the $$$ to reverse and stop periodontal disease. (it does, my gums are in much better shape)
Just starting to get use to an electronic toothbrush so I'm still on gentle mode but am pleasantly surprised how clean my teeth feel.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Dorcas's response to no cap

First off I have had this product for more than 5 years. and i never use the cap because after brushing my brush goes right into the sanitizer and doesn't come out until I am ready to use it again. There are several tooth brushes by Phillips that fits this handle with a smaller tooth brush size that have a cap. I don't believe the cap is what makes or breaks a product like this. I have had such amazing results with this tooth brush that I have bought all my sons one. Sonicare Flex Care is the best on the market and I would not let something like a cap keep me from buying it.
Pros: the sanitizer is the best
Cons: i prefer the smaller heads, it should come with a choice of heads

I'm a Dental Hygienist that switched over from another Electric toothbrush. I purchased 3 brushes from Sonicare. In less than 2 years they have all died.
Pros: cleans when it works
Cons: very short life span
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Making lots of noise

I have been using this product for 6 months now and was happy with it. Now it began to make loud noise when power button is on and I am afraid to use it because the noise makes my head hurt. I really don't understand why the noise started.
This is my first experience using an electric toothbrush, and it took a bit of getting used to it. Easy to use once I got my routine down. The timing (2 min) is a bit short, so I have to hit the "on" button again to finish brushing. Also, I keep the charger/sanitizing stand on the dresser -- away from the bathroom sink and water. Safety first!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Good product, read the warranty

This is the second Sonicare I've gotten. I chose the model with the UV cleaner, but after about 18-20 months the UV portion just quit. Thinking the warranty was for one year, as most for these types of products are, I figured I was just out of luck. Recently I was looking at the warranty and discovered it was for two years. I could have gotten it replaced (maybe, other reviewers report problems with Phillips honoring the warranty) if I had known. The small travel charger is nice. The brush works well, but frequently I accidentally turn it off during the cycle because my thumb is so close to the button. Overall it is really good for gum health.
