Load Balance Issues

The biggest issue that we have is that the load does not balance at all times. When this happens it continues to try to balance and the wash cycle in turn gets longer and longer. At times, I have to manually balance the load.

First front-load washer

We bought this washer for our new house in January 2015. I had a terrible time deciding whether to get a front-load or top-load washer. So far I am happy with my decision. I really like the built-in pedestal; it raises the washer to a convenient height while leaving enough space between the top of the washer and the overhead cabinets so that the top can be used to fold laundry. That saved us the cost of the separate pedestals, which would have raised the washer higher and which had drawers that I would not use. The washer has lots of features; I haven't tried them all yet. While the wash time seems rather long for a normal load, the clothes come out just damp and so drying time is amazingly short.
I had heard about odors with the front-loader washers, so I leave the door open a bit and also the detergent dispenser drawer. I also wipe the door gasket now and then. So far, no issues with odor. The only problem I have had is with the little dispenser drawer, which almost always retains a lot of water in the fabric softener compartment. To remove the drawer, there is a clip at the back that has to be pushed. The first time I did that, the clip broke. The repairman got me another clip, which is easy to install, but I have decided to leave it off, as I remove and empty the drawer all the time. The water is supposed to siphon out, but that doesn't happen very often for some reason.

GREAT FEATURES - Hope Clunking Noise can be fixed

Installed on July 9, 2015 - the machine is fairly quiet and has great setting options - including delicates and sanitize. Clothes are clean and fresh when cycles complete and sheets complete without being too intertwined. I like that the drum rotates clothes slowly at the end to dis-engage them from the walls after spinning (was a challenge to pry clothes free from my prior Samsung - purchased just a year ago before selling that house). So far, have not seen any evidence of wear and tear on clothes (seems some of my lighter t-shirts would get small holes in them with the Samsung) - watching this since I'm wondering if it's an issue for front-loaders since I've used top loaders up until last year. Sometimes during the cycle, the machine gets a loud "off-balance" clunking noise in conjunction with changing the spin speed - it typically re-balances before I can walk over the laundry room. However, the noise is concerning and we intend to contact support to find out whether the noise is expected and/or whether a technician needs to come out to adjust something If that problem is resolved, I would give the washer a 5 rating.

This washer appears to wash well on most items. I am still trying to get the towel setting correct. It does make a lot of banging noises that scare me and the case of the washer twists around also scaring me.

Lots of useful features

We had this for about 3 months now. Almost silent operation. We washed clothes, towels, rags, bulky items (bed sheets, comforters, etc.), and heavily soiled items. All were washed well. They come out with little water when spinning speed is high, so they dry well in dryer.
Only inconvenience is that detergent dispenser contains water after each wash and you have to clear it. Otherwise, your next load's detergent measure could go wrong.
