A lot of phone for a reasonable price

I have only had the phone for a week but am amazed at what you get for a very reasonable price - great camera, good music sound (with good earbuds), nice screen and quick response. Add that you have a 13 MP camera, can add storage and change the battery yourself it is hard to find a better buy. Love the Windows OS. Replaced a Nokia Lumia 925 ( a very nice phone ) with this phone.
Pros: Personal

Large light weight Lumia

I just upgraded to the 640 xl after having a Lumia 925 for 2 years. It's a great phone. I personally prefer the polycarbonate body instead of aluminum. It's durable and extremely scratch resistant. I love the gorilla glass 3 and as far as the screen resolution its better than my 925. Clear, vibrant and crisp. The phone feels light and the size makes everything better on this device.

Great screen and battery

Excellent large screen and plenty of battery life. I can often go two days between charges. The best thing about Windows phone is that most features are accessible from within most other apps. If a contact in my list is also on Facebook or Twitter, their feed is just a swipe away. App switching is easy, but hardly ever necessary. The integration with my desktop means changes I make to the calendar on my phone are automatically mirrored on the calendar on my desktop, without having to install an additional cloud program. I choose the way my screen looks, what goes where, and it doesn't have to be an app, anything that can be on my phone, (documents, pictures, videos, links, music) can have it's own tile on my start screen.
Pros: Business, Personal

Best. Phone. Yet.

With my various schedule of school, work, & general leisurely activities, this phone is fantastic! I can do schoolwork with ease, IT work has become a little bit easier, & I can leisurely -- of course -- stream TV & movies to my phone with ease. The fact that it is a "phablet" is hard to adjust to at first, but it is barely noticeable in my pocket. If you are considering about buying this phone, I would say buy one because of the many features that it can provide.
Pros: Personal, Business, school

Fantastic phone for the price - photos are bland

This phone is surprisingly good given the really small price. Everything is as you would expect. Great screen, daylight viewable, long-lasting battery, very responsive, fast in every way, good voice quality, it feels indestructible. I love the matte finish as well. It is comfortable in my hand and the 5.7 inch screen is perfect.
It may be better to describe the things that it does not do well.
1. The speakerphone is a bit too quiet. Part of the problem is that the speaker is covered when you place the phone face-up on a flat surface.
2. Despite all the claims about the camera being great I find that the colors are bland and there is no camera setting (in either of the two supplied camera apps) to fix that. So I have to edit every picture to increase the vibrance/saturation. Other than that the pics are as you would expect from a modern smartphone. Oddly the Microsoft camera app had a saturation setting in my previous windows phone but now that feature is missing from the current version of that same camera app supplied with this Lumia 640 XL.
3. There is no charging indicator light. too much effort now required to determine when my phone is fully charged.
4. There is no dedicated camera button. Once a great differentiating feature of windows phones, this feature is missing on this phone. Now too many clicks to get camera launched. As if to just tease us, there is a superfluous setting in this phone that asks whether to launch in video mode on a long press of the camera button ... what camera button????
5. Tricky to take screenshots as both of the buttons that you need to press are now located on the same side of the phone. Someone did not think this through.
6. No dedicated windows phone keys. Now the keys (back, home, search) are rendered in software on the display and can be hidden etc. this can be annoying in certain apps when set to auto-hide. You may find that you have to set it to "always on" in order to retain your sanity and thus permanently give up a bit of screen real estate.
7. Display is only 720. This would not be an issue on a smaller screen but there is a slight image quality reduction caused by the low pixel density. However, In my daily use I don't find this to be an issue.
Pros: Personal, Business

Simply great phone

I do not usually write reviews, I am a bit lazy for that :-), but I am so satisfied with the phone that I have to do it this time. I used to have an Android phone, but I am glad that I have switched to Windows. The previous phone bothered me with updates and lack of memory messages all the time and quality of apps was sometimes also considerable. So after two years I decided to try other environment of W8.1 and I believe that it was a good decision.
Pros:
- quick and nice looking environment of W8.1 with coming update to W10
- nice and big display
- generally nice looking device
- plenty of apps (who says that there is not enough apps for Windows?)
- good camera, actually both of them
- very good battery, 2-3 days
- dual SIM (work + private)
- quick GPS
Cons:
- small 8 GB memory, can be increased by SD card, but internal memory will be always quicker, 16 GB would be fine
Pros: Personal, Business
