Amazing Phone

The Lumia 640XL is an awesome phone and the price makes it even better! I use it for home and work and it makes my life much easier. I am able to access everything I need to keep my life organized. Cortana is the best. I am a previous user of both Apple and Android products and Cortana makes Siri and Androids search capabilities ordinary at best. More people need to realize the power of Windows phones!

Coming from iPhone, I was leery of the Windows platform, but everything runs very smoothly, and the camera is excellent for the price point. A little big, but I am already getting used to it.

I got this as an upgrade from an IPhone 5c. I have had it a week and thus far I am super impressed. There are only 2 downsides to this phone and I'll get those out of the way first.
First, the app selection, but if you don't know what you're getting into when switching to Windows phone, then you shouldn't be getting a new phone anyway. Not a very large selection of apps compared to Apple, but it has enough and I expect it to get much better eventually.
The only other thing is the processor is a bit outdated and some of the graphics run a little slow (but only for high graphic intensive games like FIFA). However, even though it's not "quite" as smooth as the IPhone, it is still playable, so not terrible.
The things I loved about it so far: The camera, obviously. It is a fantastic camera. It has more mega pixels than my high quality DSLR we have. I can't wait to go on trips, just so I can use this camera.
The other thing is the freedom that a windows phone gives you. So much more ability to customize things the way I wanted. That is the reason I switched truthfully. I was sick of Apple restricting everything I wanted to do. Say goodbye to restrictions on the windows phone.
Another thing that is very convenient is the folder system it has built into the phone. Not only is it easy to find any files that you transfer or download, but it will automatically convert things like ringtones so that they are ready to be played on your phone.
I also just love the operating system. Now that I have had the live tiles, I am pretty sure I won't be able to live without them. It is awesome.
All in all, very happy that I made the switch.

Delighted with the new Lumina 640 XL

This is a great phone; the screen is great, large and very high res. The front and back-facing cameras are the best I've seen. Photos look great on this big screen. It took a little while to get Outlook synced to my PC, but the process is really simple once you find out how to do it. I had a problem with syncing the tried Microsoft support; they were swamped with Windows 10 issues so I paid a few $$ for a year of"Tech support assurance plan" and issues were quickly resolved. The only limitation is that apps are limited; WAZE is the one I wanted the most. Although it's available, a bug in the informed consent agreement prevents getting underway. Hopefully that will be fixed soon. In summary, this is a great phone and the price is right. A strong feature is that it integrated nicely with Windows; it's great to have the same interface. BUY ONE and push your Windows-friendly associates to do the same so that MS and app developers will do their part.

Excellent out of the box experiance

Had a 1020 (wife now owns it) but I wanted a larger screen, received my 640 XL this morning and I was very pleased how easy everything was to set up.
All my data from my 1020 was easily transferred over, (contacts, apps, etc..).

This phone is excellent. I have used Lumia phones in the past (521 and 635) none compare to the 640XL. The upgrade in RAM to 1 GB helps the phone be compatible with more apps on the app store. The battery life on this phone is excellent, after a day of heavy use I still have 40% remaining by bed time. I love the tiles display and while it takes a while to get used to if you are coming from Android or iOS, I find the tile layout easier and more intuitive than both. I actually moved to this phone from an LG G2 and was expecting to see a performance hit but the 640XL is very quick and responsive. Very impressed with the Lumia 640XL's performance and battery life. I highly recommend it!.

It's not the high-end category, but really amazing. I like the design and the plastic material (scratches on the back? just buy an other for low price) AND(!) the removable battery! I love the Windows Phone UI. Waiting for the Win10. Microsoft, keep up the good work with Lumia phones!
