Bought two of these cameras for my young adult children. Price and features is ideal for beginner photography. Stressed the importance of taking pictures while the family is young. This camera enabled them to do just that AND use many, but not all, of the excellent features of the camera. Rugged also as it has to withstand some rough handling, but has done an excellent job of doing that, thus far. I used one for quite a while and had no complaints outside the somewhat inferior lens system that ships with the camera. Easily solved by buying a few nice lens.
Pros: excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, quiet, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life, excellent beginner camera. exc for experienced too

I am an old film phottographer, the XTi being my first digital canera i have owned.
I was astounded from the first shot to my last. I have never seen such clarity before. The color and texture of the subject are outstanding.
I have always owned Cacon products and do not anticipating changini \gmow.

Great entry level DSLR

The EOS Rebel Xti is a great entry level DSLR. Provides excellent quality with good value and if you're used to using any Canon EOS Rebel film SLR then the transition is almost seamless.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, built in flash very short range

Outstanding Product

This is one of the best pieces of electronics I have. The picture quality is wonderful, clear and a work of art. Easey to use just by reading the book. Book has simplified the instructions so that anyone can can use it. With just a little practice even the amature can look like a professional.

this is #3 canon camera for over 15 years,and the profarmance is still there.this camera is easy to used even with out the manual if you understand digital cameras,the features are very understandable and easy to locate,i would recommend this camera to a first time person who is interested in photographing,the picture it takes is briliant as long as you set the the right features for the type of shot,night or day.

Outstanding picture quality and hi iso, its light, that is what I was looking for, the price was also very reasonable.The lcd is certainly the best that I have used. My lonely suggestion would be to cover lcd with a protective barrier.

Perfect for beginner.

I purchased this just before the XSi came out. And honestly I'm glad I did, because I would probably have gone with the XSi and I know I would have been unhappy with it due to the SD card alone. CF is much faster and hardier, and for me I have more resources with fellow photographers than with an SD. Anyways, by the time this review was written the XTi is pretty much out the window with Canon. So moot point for a review anymore, but I just wanted to voice my opinion that this is a great camera for me (an aspiring amateur photog.). Someday I'll upgrade to the new 5D, but until then, I'm happy.

Cons: Complicated controls/menu, Missing features/settings

I absolutely love this camera, I'm an amature photographer and it makes pictures look professional. I have a good program that helps.
This is a camera that as a amature, just working with it and trying all the features can self teach anyone. Watching the CD that comes with it is vital. Took it on a cruise, and captured pictures that I couldn't have gotten with a smaller camera.
It's an excellent choice by anyone interested.
