I bought this camera over a year ago and have used it on a trip to Alaska, for wedding pictures, etc. The quality of the pictures is outstanding. The camera has many different camera settings and allows you to use it to suit almost every occasion. Plus, you can use customized functions to suit your unique needs. To assure pictures of a once in a life time trip I used bracketing of the f stops and was pleased with how fast I was able to take pictures. Recently, I took pictures of an auto race and, once again, the results were outstanding. Unfortunately, I have an older Canon 35 mm camera with many lenses and the lenses can't be used on this camera.
Pros: excellent image quality, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, good battery life
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, difficult to use in manual mode
I would recommend this to a friend!

This camera was my first DSLR, and starting out as an amateur photographer, it has been great to learn with. Having been into photography and using this camera for over a year now, I still love the images it produces and how easy it is to use. It's very versatile as far as the subjects it can be used to shoot, and goes everywhere with me in case I find something worth photographing. I would most definitely recommend this for a beginner. And the price is great for a first camera!
Pros: Superior build quality, Bright LCD, Quick Start-up time, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable
Cons: Missing features/settings

Great Overall Camera

Had been a EOS 620 film camera die-hard for years. I've used several other lower grade digitals out of necessity. But, was happy to find out I could use all my old EOS lenses on this digital. Had over $2000 in lenses and the interchangability was the selling point. I wish the old Speedlite worked though. I would recommend this camera to beginner and advanced alike. The beginners will probably get more serious about taking photos after using this camera. One tings for beginners - read the manual to take advantage of all the possibilities
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Nice features/settings, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: no serious cons

camera and Lens Great Soft ware poor

I purchased an XTI and with the 18 55 lens plus a 70 200 zoom . I love all three pieces. The Software that comes on the Digital Solution disc is a night mare when working with Vista . I have had to uninstall and reinstall a number of times to get it working right . Recently I checkd the upgrades and downloaded and installed the latest . Now the Canon Camera window does not recognise my camera . I use Windows to get the job done . It is very frustrating to have the performance of a good piece(s) of hardware hurt by poor software
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, quiet, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
Cons: eos solutions software

I have had this camera for a couple of years and love it. I cant believe they got rid of the xt with the 8MP too that one was a good cheaper camera. I can take such great photos that I am starting to look into selling them for some side money. Great buy and great value which is made even better now that the xsi is out. I am sad to see the xsi with 12MP but I would not use the live view since I like to see all of the info in the view finder. Hopefully this camera WILL be around forever. Keep this one CANON it is the greatest. I know people who have 40D's and can not use them as fast as I can and do not even like to use the live view since it seems awkward to move it back and forth to see all of the buttons and readjust. No need on my xti I can see the aperture values, shutter speed, everything right in the viewfinder. It is a great camera!!!! Good luck and hope you enjoy!!!!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Nice features/settings, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life

I bought this camera for a trip to Europe. It was amazing. Without this camera I would have been very upset with the photos I would have had to take with another camera. Its very easy to use. I LOVE THIS CAMERA! If you buy it you will fall in love with it. After having another camera for very long and switching to this one, I cry when I look at some of the amazing photos I have been able to take. IT IS THE BEST!
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, portable, good battery life
Cons: noisy

Great product

Attending military reunions and functions over the last 15 years has taken me from using a 35mm film camera, the first low quality digitals, a very fine Canon Digital Elf powershot to my Rebel XTi and accessories. Now everyone comments on the quality of my photos and several friends are looking at purchasing a Canon digital camera. I wish it had a live screen viewer like the newer models but that does not take away from the overall performance.
Pros: Superior build quality, excellent image quality, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, Nice features/settings, Quick Start-up time, Solid Operation, easy to use, Lightweight/Portable, good battery life
