A VERY WELL THOUGHT OUT CARPET CLEANER

After reading so many reviews which compared the Pro Heat 2X Premier Carpet Cleaner with their previous model and complained about the changes Bissell made to this design I had to write and advise to buy the Pro Heat 2X with confidence. Bissell's improvements in this unit far out weigh anything they did not include with their earlier model. Bissell's design group are listening to their customers and addressing our concerns, this is clearly evident in the improvements in the Pro Heat 2X Premier Carpet Cleaner. The ability to heat the water, improvement. The ability to take it apart to clean after use, wonderful improvement. The dual brushes, vast improvement. Less water seems to be put out at a time, so your carpet does not get over saturated quickly, terrific improvement. The unit does not leak onto your clean carpet when you turn it off like the old one did, neither does the cleaning hand tool. The ability to remove carpet fiber debris is vastly simpler, someone really thought this through with this design. So the major complaint I read from others was their surprise that there was no longer a separate cleaning solution dispenser, as you mix it in the bladder. But there is far less solution used and much less water applied. And when I do a separate rinse with clean hot water by replacing the cleaning solution water, I know it is clean. Although this is now a separate step there is no longer a clogging issue with the soap dispenser which was why I had to replace my last unit. So Bissell's design team has made significant overall improvements to their 2x ProHeat Carpet Cleaner. And overall is a terrific moderately priced unit that really, really cleans your carpets.

I used this cleaner once. Worked well. The second time I used it, it would not suction the water. My sister also received a cleaner as a gift. I borrowed hers, which had never been used. The brand new cleaner would not suction the water. We live in remote areas and to get service on the cleaners, it is necessary to drive 185 miles one way and then if the cleaner needs to be left for service, we would need to make a rturn trip. Not worth the trouble for a cleaner that does not work at all or only works once.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the suction, Susie! If the front nozzle is clogged or has become misaligned that could cause the machine to not suction. These steps should help! https://www.bissell.com/support/helpful-resources/faqs/faq-detail-page?id=57864413-2358-4eb2-807c-5f832dd169e8&cid=ccsocial2107

there is no way to clean out the front suction assembly. good luck with the piece of wire you will need to try and pull out anything that gets caught in there. p.s. don't let it harden in there unless you want another machine.

Hi dbv - you should be able to easily lift off and remove the front nozzle for this cleaner. Take off the water tank and there will be two dials on the base of the machine. Twist both of them to unlock the front nozzle which can then be rinsed clean. Hope this helps!

I was forced to purchase a new machine when my old ProHeat stopped spraying a quarter through a cleaning job. I read several reviews, had not planned to purchase this machine, however my choices were limited by availability. Speaking to cons expressed in a limited number of reviews: This machine is no heavier than my old machine. It is difficult to maneuver, however, I don't see that as an issue compared to the excellent job it does. I am 64 y/o and it didn't cause me any back problems. I think the dual roller brushes with the edge sweep are a big asset. The edge sweep extends to the floor boards. I do deep cleaning and dual brushes make a big difference. I would not expect to use a machine of this size and wt to shampoo stairs. I get a cleaner carpet by emptying the soapy water and filling the bladder with clean rinse water. I have small dogs and I want as much of the soap residue removed as possible. My old machine had a separate soap dispenser allowing you to switch back and forth between shampoo and rinse. It did not do the job this machine does. I do a deep clean which requires the use of more water. I go over stains again and again. I am happy with the quality of spray and suction. I take time to pull as much of the water as possible from the carpet. I leave a fan on over night. I would not expect a deep clean to dry within a few hours. I have difficulty keeping the attachment on the holder, had the same problem with my previous machine. Maybe it's me. I used a rubber band to keep attachment on holder of old machine. The 2X has removed stains that my old machine didn't touch. Soil tracked in from the garage, spills, dog accidents. The stain it didn't completely remove was old cherry Koolaide stain which wasn't surprise. I have champaign colored carpets that are 10 yrs old. They looked like new after the shampoo. I am extremely pleased with the job the 2X does. I'm glad limited options resulted in the purchase of this machine. I just wish I had replaced my old machine several years ago.

I have had this for almost five months and everything seems to be breaking all at once. Luckily my husband can fix a lot of it but we recently had to replace a broken part. My husband has had to replace the tubing inside of our machine because it is literally disintegrating. He has had to fix the suction on it as well. Now the Tank Cap & Insert Assembly has broken and needs to be replaced. I am just waiting now for something else to break on it. I was really excited the first few months because it was working great but now it is just falling apart. What happened to the days when you bought something and it would last for years before you had to replace it?

I was tired of renting the machines. And who knows what the other homes had. Did that shampooer pick up fleas, ticks, bed bugs? Plus lugging the machine back and forth . . . trying to get the job done before the time limit. . Ahhhh . . . what a nice option to have it at my disposal. I was so happy after using this Proheat 2X Premier shampooer. At first I was sad wondering if I had made a mistake in my purchase. But hey! You really can't go wrong buying a Bissell, now can you? . I have a Calico and a beautiful medium sized shelter adopted dog that really sheds. . After shampooing two large rooms . . . sofa and chair, I was so impressed about my choice. My husband was getting kinda upset because I kept telling him how happy I was. (LOL) He probably had visions of strangling me or the machine! One thing I found out is that my wonderful vacuum had not picked up all the pet hair . . . it left that to my shampooer! So now I am researching Bissell vacuums. I want to keep my machine in top working order . . . so when I noticed hair start to end up on the floor in clumps, I stopped to clean out the hair. It is so easy to just twist the knobs and lift off the thingy on the front, clean out the hair and also took the build up hair off from under it where the rollers are with just my fingers. I know that after I get my Bissell vacuum, I won't have to go through that anymore. I do wish that they would make this shampooer with swivel wheels. I'm just about 71 with spine problems. When I back myself up to a wall and have to turn it around, it's pretty hard and awkward. But hey! My floors and furniture are CLEAN! And no odor!

Even with several dogs and cats who have frequent "accidents" , I found that this machine (and the accompanying spot cleaner) cleaned beyond my expectations. Yes, it spits out wads of hair; that just means my vacuum doesn't work like it should. I love the ingenious double bucket clean/dirty water system. Really good suction. I considered buying the Big Green, but glad I didn't spend the extra money; this machine does the job.
I would recommend this to a friend!
