Touchpad buttons do not work after 1.5 years

We got the GE profile microwave along with other GE appliances as part of the new home that we bought. It has just been a year and a half and quite a few of touchpad buttons (including "Cook Time") do not work. It is quite disappointing (and expensive) given that it will require reworking the cabinetry as well to replace the microwave.

It was a nice microwave until it quit working after only 3 years. Seem like the trend is to build products that dint last so they can sell another one.

Not a good product

Owned less than two years, and only a two person family, the keypad buttons have suddenly stopped working. So unfortunately we have a nice looking, trim kit installed, brick for a microwave.

Keypad Failure

Would not recommend this item as it fails after a few years of use. The microwave itself cooks and heats as it should, but the keypads fail to where you can’t set the time rendering the product useless. After looking into this, I have read many other reviews out there stating the same problem. Hopefully GE has quit selling this product and would be nice if they would offer a rebate to buy an upgraded model.

Poor Quality Electronic Touchpad

Purchased microwave 4 years ago as part of total kitchen renovation with all new GE appliances. Touchpad failed within first 2 months so could not use it at all. GE would not replace it even though I felt it was a lemon. They replaced the touchpad unit. Within a year the digital clock numbers were disappearing making it difficult to use timer, set controls, etc. Then the touchpad numbers started failing again. At present only the 1 and the 4 are working, making it almost impossible to use the microwave and you can't tell how long anything is cooking as the clock numbers are only partially visible. As this oven was built in with a trim kit above my wall oven, I am locked in to something that will fit in the same space. To have 2 touchpad/control units stop working in 3 1/2 years is totally unacceptable-very poor quality. In addition, a poor design feature is that the touchpad is not backlight making it very difficult see unless a bright light is shining on. I cannot recommend this product and now am in a quandry as to how to proceed. Of course it is no longer under warranty.

Horrible

I replaced this microwave after only six yrs. It has been repaired three times in that period of time and was not going to invest more money to repair it again. Was forced to buy the same exact microwave again as this is a built-in and needs to match the oven. I have no confidence that this new one will work any better than the one I just had to pay to have hauled away. If there was a zero stars I would have used it

Doesn't last long

Worked great for 3 years, but now the control pad start button and several other buttons stopped working. Of course not under warranty any more. Way too expensive for it to "die" so soon. We have all GE appliances, but many have to rethink if they have to be replaced so quickly.

We recommend trying a quick electronic reset for this. You can do this by unplugging the power cord for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.
