Awful product!

We built a custom home two years ago and we started having problems with our GE appliances before our first year at our home. Technician came several times to fix the ice maker, the oven and the dishwasher. The ice maker and the microwave/oven broke. Bad quality of the products. Not happy at all!
Products should not be released if they do not meet the minimum standards or should be recalled and replaced if there is a malfunction.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worst microwave EVER

We purchased all GE appliances for our new home including this built in microwave. It stopped working after 14 months. Contacted appliance store which agreed to send repair person at no cost to us. Less than 6 months after repair it stopped working again.

Good, but not as good as the one it replaced

There is no longer a "reheat" function or the ability to defrost by time vs weight. I miss these functions. Broiler function is a great addition as is recessed turntable. I also miss the dial on the previous model. It was very handy and user friendly.

Door opener worthless

We bought this microwave for our new home along with a GE Profile wall oven. Within the first five months we have had to have the microwave repaired twice because the door malfunctions. The first time this happened, we were thawing chicken. My husband pushed the button to open the door and the button jammed and we were unable to open the door. The repairman could not come out for several days. Meanwhile the chicken sat in the microwave for 3-4 days and stunk to high heaven when he did arrive to open the door. It happened again today, luckily this time my husband merely tried to open the microwave to put something in. Very unhappy with this appliance.

Doesn’t Work After a While

Terrible appliance; don’t waste your money. We purchased a new home and it came with this microwave. However it’s only been a year and a half and the microwave suddenly just stopped. It opens, lights turn on, turntable spins, but the microwave does not heat anything. The price to repair is already more than the cost to get a new microwave, so no thank you. Our next appliance will certainly not be from GE as we have the same problem with our dishwasher as well, which to no surprise, is also from GE.

If the microwave runs but is not heating, it could be one of many components.

Make sure the “Timer” function was not inadvertently used.
Check to ensure the door is closed firmly. Close it firmly, but do not slam. This confirms the engagement of the door's safety mechanisms.

For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to an internal high voltage capacitor (can hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). Special equipment is generally needed to make a diagnosis.

Great microwave

Our last GE microwave had a good life of 20 years and this new & modern microwave has exceeded our expectations. It looks great and is easy to use. This is our first convection microwave and it works great. Highly recommend this product.
