All-in-one microwave

Very handy if limited for space, but awkward to use as convection or roast oven. Round racks slide around and as interior space becomes very hot and area is so tight, it becomes difficult to handle the tray with the food.

Old microwave was better

My old GE PROFILE was better and easier to use.
Convection oven and defrost features are impossible to set the time to cook. It
just won't work if I put in 13 minutes , it comes up 3 minutes and does not accept 13 minutes. I end up using my own little timer. I give up. Other than that, the microwave feature works fine. The oven also seems hotter and can burn things.

Functional, but disappointed.

We purchased this countertop microwave as a replacement to a wall unit we had, which fit in just above our wall oven. The microwave dimensions were a bit smaller than the one we replaced, but the available trip kit seemed to fill in the opening. The display is not as user-friendly as it could be, as it is too dark unless there is ample light in my kitchen. Also, the touch pad is "sensitive". The square area requires touches in the middle on some buttons, but then requires you to go high/low or right/left on other buttons. How is a touch pad not sensitive in the middle of the button ? Good performance when the microwave cooks.

Does not last

Our 6-years old microwave PEB1590SM2SS stopped working sixteen months ago and a week ago for the second time with the same symptoms. Very lightly used, not even every day. Purchased together with an oven of the same design, picked GE because our original microwave lasted for fifteen years and was still working, it was just the time to get replaced. Last time the microwave broke had to fix it since this model (and design) was not available any longer, and replacing both microwave and an oven did not make sense. Looks like quality these days is no comparison to what it used to be. Lesson learned, no GE next time.

Stainless back stains easily. Users manual doesn't jive with actual way to use it. Temperatures shown on buttons don't function.

Not as rugged as the GE model it replaced

We bought this microwave-convection combo to replace the 13-year-old model that was starting to break down. Although it is the same size and power, it is lighter feels less rugged. It has a button to open the door instead of a pull handle like the old one.
I would recommend this to a friend!

improper specs

Just bought new home with this microwave installed in cabinet over wall oven JT5000SFSS. When using microwave, the wall oven's control panel fogs up and stops working. Twice, GE Techs came out and said this microwave cannot be installed over a wall oven because it vents downward. GE clearly states on website that it can. Can't seem to get qualified answers from Builder or from anyone at GE in spite of several calls to GE C/S and your Consumer Advocate Dept. What now??
