Beautiful Fridge but it scratches easy

We’ve had the fridge for about a month now. Spent quite a bit of time researching for such a big purchase. Shelves are sturdy! And nothing appears to be cheap. Research the filters and the different ways to accommodate others. We also have two toddlers so we opted for the interior dispensers. We have also noticed the produce does last much longer than it did. Nothing appears cheap with this fridge.
The one very disappointing thing about the fridge is how easy it is to scratch the exterior. We purchased the slate version which was beautiful for about a day. That was so disappointing after loving this fridge so much.
I would recommend this to a friend!

refrigerator layout is very open

The refrigerator layout is very open and you can easily see what is in the refrigerator.
The lighting is awesome. The only reason I did not do 5 stars is that the refrigerator does not come with tubing to hookup ice maker. We have a copper tube that comes from our main water source that is then supposed to hookup to other tubing. We needed to go buy that and install ourselves. thankfully my husband knew how to do this

Problems at just shy of 4 years old

No problems for the first three years and suddenly we wake up to a continuous low pitched humming noise and the refrigerator at 43 degrees, soon spiking to 50 degrees!! Check to make sure nothing blocking back wall of fridge, unplugged, re-plugged and no change to problem. Contacted GE and no service until 6 days later!! Thankfully we have another fridge as back-up (cheaper Kenmore fridge that we've owned for over 10 years -still running strong, never a problem with it)
Very disappointed. Expected more reliability from such an expensive product from what I considered a stalwart appliance manufacturer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Really like the ice maker!

We are very pleased with the refrigerator. Finally a refrigerator with a dependable ice maker. We also like the water dispenser inside the fridge, it doesn't take up any room and the front of the refrigerator remains clean.

The latest bells and whistles meets expectations

I've read most of the reviews and complaints about similar GE fridges and I consider them outliers or owners not reading the manual.
- Is it noisy? Maybe when compared to other makers. My measurements show <45dB when the compressor is on (23min) but it throttles back to a low hum (fan?... another 11min) and obviously it's dead quiet when it turns "off" (25min of silence). Still quieter than your low noise dishwashers. Maybe as noisy as my old 20+yr GE Profile side-by-side.
- No problems reaching set point temp. Using an instant read digital meat thermometer, I saw <1degF from factory set points of 0F (freezer) and 37F (fridge: w/glass of water). The operating manual is incorrect about being able to read temp directly off the unit. Door storage temp was ~ 40F (as expected).
- No issues with black ice or water dispense IF YOU FLUSH THE LINE. Ice maker "clunks" ice when it's empty, but hardly noticeable when partially full.
- Aesthetics? Love the counter depth (delivery team did not have to take the doors off!); slate finish = no fingerprints; LED lighting lets me see without warming the interior space; water dispense is internal (doesn't compromise fridge space for ice maker) or put a hole in the fridge door (less complicated; more energy efficient).
- Complaints? The RFID chip in the water filter at more than double the price? Outrageous... almost didn't buy the fridge based on that alone. The waterline inlet connector on the fridge was obstructed by framing sheet metal (needed to hammer the frame to make enough clearance to attach waterline hose). Freezer door could have an "open door" alarm as well.
Wish I could post updated reviews as the product ages. Hoping it lasts another 20 years.

New Fridge-It's been a long journey

Our previous fridge was a GE and lasted a long time so we were somewhat set on getting another GE after our current fridge recently died on us. We were interested in getting something a little larger than out current fridge so we went with this model. We went with the slate finish and have had a lot of issues with scratches and scuffs in it. We are on our third fridge and our second freezer door is here waiting to be installed. We spent a lot of money on this fridge and have been disappointed that every one that we have received has had damage to the finish. To GE's credit I will say that they have been good to work with to get replacement fridges or doors sent to us however it shouldn't be this hard. Other thing I would note is that the fridge is louder than our previous one which I wasn't expecting. The drawer slides on the freezer door squeak and seem a little flimsy. Hope they hold up long term. Can't rate anything higher than 1 star at this point. Maybe a few months from now the rating would be higher.

Great slate color and features

Overall, we are very happy with this fridge. However, when we went to hook up the water line the shroud was off of the compressor. Snapped it back in place, but now the fridge hums continuously. We contacted the appliance store where we purchased the fridge and a part is now on order. It's very disappointing that we've had to request a service call on a brand new product.

Doesn't stay cold

This refrigerator has never worked. It knows that it should be thirty eight degrees, but it doesn't seem to care. It will just warm up to room temperature and not even try to cool. If I reset it, it seems to remember that it's supposed to keep my food cold. However, i've reset it over forty times now.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
